New ChargEV Pitstop Tangkak: Powering Passenger and Logistics Electrification

The ChargEV Pitstop Tangkak, the outfit's first fast charging hub strategically located along the North-South Highway near the Tangkak Toll Plaza, is set to transform EV charging for highway users, especially for those in logistics vehicle operators.
This facility developed in collaboration with the Tangkak District Council, will serve as a more pocket friendly alternative to the pricer Shell Tangkak Southbound facility.

However, users will have to make a slight detour as the ChargEV Pitstop Tangkak is located 550 metres away from the Tangkak Toll Plaza. Notably, it is accessible to both south and north bound traffic.
Equipped with a 400kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) powering a Kempower 1000V 400kW Cabinet with eight 120kW CCS2 DCFC satellite units. Additionally, this facility is able to accommodate both light and heavy vehicles, ensuring efficient, fast charging. Users will enjoy a rate of RM1.60/kWh once the station is operational.

Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, during a recent visit to the facility stated that the hub is in its final stages of certification, with just approvals from the Energy Commission (ST) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) pending.
Meanwhile, ChargEV Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Huzaimi Noh Omar, emphasized the charging hubs design is meant to primarily cater to heavy vehicles and is designed with BOMBA-compliant safety features for easy maneuvering.

He further added that the Tangkak facility, set to become operational next month, will be able to handle eight light vehicles or four heavy vehicles simultaneously, with a charging time of about 30 minutes. This ensures seamless connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru/Singapore with just a short charge.

More than a charging station, the ChargEV Pitstop Tangkak also features 12 F&B outlets, two convenience stores and a Tangkak Tourism satellite office.
According to Huzaimi, once operational, the ChargEV Pitstop Tangkak will set a benchmark for sustainable transport, boost local economic opportunities, and support the government’s goal of 10,000 EV charging stations this year.
