The facelifted version of the Hyundai Creta B-SUV has been teased in India

Unveiled to the world back in 2019, the second-gen Hyundai Creta B-SUV is due for a mid-life cycle update. Ahead of its planned global debut, this updated B-SUV has been teased in India, where it gets a pretty elaborate makeover job on both the interior and exterior.

Published via a glitzy and glamorous teaser campaign featuring Bollywood royalty Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, the upcoming Creta comes with a new front fascia. Unlike the current Tucson model, the Creta’s new face appears more angular, featuring a new square front grille design, a full-width LED strip with L-shaped segments, and boxy LED headlights.

At the back, the teased Creta facelift also comes with a full-width LED bar with similar L-shaped segments as the front, which is quite a huge departure from the quirky, J-shaped taillight design featured on the pre-facelift model. Plus, the SUV’s derriere also appears to be more chiselled, plus its prominent lower rear bumper accent gives the new Creta a more rugged look.

Besides the exterior, the Creta’s interior has also been revamped for the updated model, with the expansive dual-display layout derived from the facelifted Tucson being the main highlight. Also present here is the new display panel for the cabin’s climate control system, though its steering wheel seems to be quite similar to the current model.

Local Indian news reports suggest that the facelifted Hyundai Creta is poised to break cover later in Jan 16, with its mid-life cycle upgrade mostly comprising the cosmetics front. As for its powertrain, the Indian-spec Creta gets both the 1.5-litre 4-cyl petrol and diesel powertrain options, which are mated to either the manual, CVT, or a conventional torque converter automatic gearbox.

Rumours also suggest that the facelifted model will also get a peppier 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine rated at 160 HP, which is then paired with a manual or a dual-clutch gearbox option.

The second-gen, pre-facelift Hyundai Creta launched in Malaysia back in Apr 2023

As for our local market, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has previously launched the pre-updated Hyundai Creta SUV in our market. Fully-imported (CBU) from Indonesia, this B-SUV arrives in a single Plus variant, tagged at RM149,888. With the pre-facelift model taking quite a while to make its way here, it might take a while before we get to see the facelifted Creta on sale in our local market.
