Mercedes-Benz Explores The Use Of Humanoid Robots On Factory Floor
Texas-based company, Apptronik, has created humanoid robots that will be used in Mercedes-Benz factories. It is anticipated that robots will help employees and carry out a variety of duties during the production process.
The humanoid robots will probably be employed for part delivery and inspection. According to the Financial Times, the automaker's plant in Hungary, where there is a labor shortage due to workers migrating to Western Europe, is already testing such robots.
It should be noted that other automakers have also used humanoid robots in their factories before Mercedes. Earlier this year, BMW announced a collaboration with California-based Figure, which intends to test the effectiveness of robotics. The 01 robot, manufactured by Figure, is currently in use at BMW's US plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
