New to the Malaysian market are the DDPai N5 Dual (left) and DDPai Ranger (right).
DDPai Malaysia recently launched two new offerings into the local market earlier this month, one made for especially for car drivers and the other built specifically for two-wheelers (both motorcycles and bicycles). The former is the new DDPai N5 Dual dashcam, whilst the latter is dubbed the DDPai Ranger.
The new DDPai N5 Dual is positioned as all all-in-one dashcam solution as it features both a forward- and rear-facing camera bundled into one package.
Starting with he N5 Dual first and, as its name suggest, this is a dual-channel dashcam set comprised of two cameras. One is forward-facing unit that records at 4K resolution, the other being a rear-facing unit that captures footage in 1080p resolution.
Though asymmetrical in resolution, the Chinese dashcam brand touts that the hardware is capable of capturing crystal-clear images during both day and night times thanks to RealCube and NightVIS imaging tech.
Notably, the forward-facing 4K camera also boasts an ultra-wide 140-degree field of view that promises to capture more whilst you drive. Up to this point, the hardware seems pretty similar to other dual-camera sets we’ve seen, but there’s more on hand.
Unlike other rivalling dual-camera sets, the N5 Dual from DDPai can be equipped with an optional AI-controlled millimetre-wave radar. This add-on feature boasts motion-sensing abilities that can automatically initiate time-lapse recording too, lasting for up to 15 days even.
The N5 Dual can be optionally equipped with an AI-controlled millimetre-wave radar (left). Ultra-wide 140-degree FOV with RealCube and NightVIS imaging tech promises crystal clear footage (right).
Besides supporting micro SD cards with up to 512 GB storage, the DDPai N5 Dual has 32 GB of built-in eMMC storage with added failover system that saves videos should the micro SD card fail. It also uses a supercapacitor instead of a backup battery that enables operation when the car is not running.
As for connectivity, the DDPai N5 Dual boasts built-in GPS, as well Bluetooth and 5G WiFi connectivity, the latter two offering tie-in with a dedicated smartphone app. Additional features include voice command-enabled photo-taking, plus basic ADAS features too.
Entering the burgeoning action cam space is the DDPai Ranger, and this device was built for bicyclist and motorcyclists alike.
Whilst the DDPai N5 Dual is positioned as an all-in-one dashcam solution, the new DDPai Ranger launched alongside it is positioned similarly as an all-in-one solution for both motorcyclists and bicyclists alike – a first for DDPai, in fact.
Effectively, the DDPai Ranger is more akin to an action cam than it is as a dashcam, but it has been designed to fit the needs of both. It features a 4K-capable main camera that captures a ultra-wide 150-degree field of view, and it’s also powered by RealCube and NightVIS imaging tech.
The Ranger also harnesses Triple Ride Stabilization tech to offer horizon levelling and wide-angle distortion correction, thus promising smooth and stable footage. The latter is accessible via 1.3-inch touchscreen display on the camera’s top-side that boasts a peak brightness of 700 nits.
Moreover, said screen can also display data related to any typical motorcycle or bicycle ride and adventure. These are powered by multi-mode multi-star GPS tracing, six-axis gyroscope, magnetometer, altimeter, compass, and more similar tech that are all built into the device.
The DDPai Ranger comes equipped with a nifty 1.3-inch touchscreen display (left) and can be optionally-equipped with an AC charging base (right) for continuous operation a la dashcam.
Footage captured are saved to the Ranger’s onboard 128 GB eMMC storage, though there’s no micro SD support. At the very least, the DDPai Ranger stands respectably comparable against its action cam peers thanks to its IP67 water- and dustproof status.
For power, the DDPai Ranger is juiced by a 1,600 mAh battery, but this can be connected to external power via a dedicated optional AC charging base to enable continuous operation – a la dashcam. As for connectivity, the Ranger boasts both built-in 5G WiFi and Bluetooth 5.2 modules.
Available for purchases now, the N5 Dual is priced from RM449, whilst the Ranger is tagged from RM1,099 onwards.
As for prices, the N5 Dual is tagged at RM449, or RM599 with the optional radar sensor included. The Ranger, on the other hand, starts from RM1,099 sans any additional accessories. Both devices are available through DDPai Malaysia's official Shopee and Lazada e-stores.
