SDAC, GPF Extend Support To Orang Asli Communities

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), the exclusive Ford distributor in Malaysia and The Global Peace Foundation (GPF) have partnered to support GPF's OA-Eco Farm initiative in four Orang Asli Villages located in Kuala Rompin, Pahang.

The goal of the OA-Eco Farm program is to provide Orang Asli families with sustainable income streams and self-sufficiency through food farming. In addition to financial aid in the form of tools and seedlings, it offers coaching and practical training. backed by a kind donation from Ford Motor Company Fund of $10,000 (RM45,745).
22 volunteers contributed kitchen tools, farming equipment, and seedlings. They also worked closely with the Orang Asli community to help them plant biomass crop seedlings and install solar-powered equipment for their fencing system. Turse Zuhair, Managing Director of Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford said that GPF’s mission aligns perfectly with SDAC’s commitment to corporate citizenship and community development.

“We are proud to continue our partnership to make a greater impact on the lives of the Orang Asli communities,” he added.
“COVID-19 has exposed the severe food insecurity faced by the Orang Asli population. Deforestation and land encroachment worsen the situation, leading to severe malnourishment and food shortages. Food security is critical to building resiliency,” said Dr Teh Su Thye, CEO of Global Peace Foundation.
