Ford Mustangs Get 1960s Digital Gauge Cluster Design
Owners of Ford Mustangs can now restyle the digital instrument clusters in their vehicles to resemble the vintage gauge cluster from the 1967–1968 Mustang, Motor Authority reported.
A brief statement from Ford states that this option is currently being applied to 2024 Ford Mustang models through an over-the-air (OTA) software update. This is the automaker's second attempt to maximize the number of screens available on the seventh-generation Mustang. When the 2024 Mustang was first introduced, it also came with a graphics theme for the 12.4-inch instrument cluster that was a replica of the 1987–1993 Fox-body Mustang cluster.

The internal platform code of the 2024 Mustang has changed from S550 to S650, making it sufficiently new to be classified as a distinct generation even though it isn't totally new.
The update also brought the 500-hp Mustang Dark Horse, a car good enough to be a finalist for the Motor Authority Best Car To Buy 2024 award, in addition to a more complex screen arrangement. An even more aggressive Mustang GTD is planned.
This week saw the release of a limited-edition 60th Anniversary Package honoring six decades of the Mustang nameplate, which comes after the retro gauge cluster design. Following its 1964 debut at the New York World's Fair, the original Mustang has continued to use its nameplate even as competitors such as the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger have come and gone.

The package includes special 20-inch wheels, side graphics, a grille that mimics the original Mustang's grille, and a dash plaque. It is based on the 2025 Mustang GT Premium grade. There will be two body styles available: coupe and convertible.
Just 1,965 examples—a reference to the Mustang's debut model year—will be produced by Ford. Although the cars were titled as 1965 models, Ford referred to the first-year Mustang as a 1964 1/2 model because it was released outside of the typical model-year transition.
