The New BMW CE 02 X Vagabund Is A Retro-Inspired E-Scooter

BMW Motorrad has teamed up with Vagabund to create this unique, retro-inspired CE 02 electric scooter.
BMW Motorrad has teamed up with Austrian-based automotive designer Vagabund Moto to create a unique version of the marque’s electric motorcycle, the BMW CE 02. Now known as the BMW CE 02 X Vagabund concept, this stylish eParkourer (BMW Motorrad’s lingo for the CE 02 e-scooter) gets a retro-inspired design makeover that sets it apart from its bare-boned siblings.

For starters, the special CE 02 gets a black-hued front fender that is paired with a striking yellow hoop. The two-tone colourway is accompanied by the e-scooter’s white wheels and a tan seat, both of which provide some much-needed colour contrast to the bike’s main black-and-yellow colourway.

Besides the unique colourway, the CE 02 X Vagabund also gets a faux tailpipe, which is essentially a hidden, cylindrical-shaped compartment that boasts enough space to fit one small umbrella. Designers also give the e-bike a “running board with skateboard grip tape” to reflect a “sporty, urban eParkourer style.”

The OB-4 Magic Radio Bluetooth speaker can be removed from the CE 02, allowing owners to take it anywhere they want.
What’s also unique about this eParkouerer is the presence of a removable OB-4 Magic Radio Bluetooth speaker. Made by Teenage Engineering, this $549 (RM2,466) portable speaker also comes with a built-in radio FM, allowing riders to cruise around with the CE 02 while enjoying their favourite tunes.

The special CE 02 x Vagabund boasts no mechanical changes whatsoever, with the eParkourer concept still using the same battery setup as its standard twin, featuring two removable 1.96-kWh battery packs that juice its single electric motor rated at 15 HP (11 kW) and 55 NM. This setup allows the CE 02 to accelerate from 0-48 KM/H in just three seconds, while its maximum EV range is capped at up to 95 KM on a single charge. When the batteries are dead, the optional quick charger can take them from 0% to 80% in around three hours.

As expected, the new BMW CE 02 X Vagabund concept is a one-off special concept, meaning that it won’t be ready for purchase, at least for now. However, those who fancy a stylish e-bike can get the standard CE 02 model instead, which recently made its debut in our market as the second all-electric product by BMW Motorrad Malaysia after the CE 04, with the former tentatively priced at RM38,500.
