VPCM Charts New Malaysian Record for Largest Golf Gathering
With 370 units, the VW Golf Fan Fest 2024 has charted a new Malaysian record for the largest VW Golf gathering in the country.
Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) etched its name into the Malaysian Book of Records (MBOR), as the automaker organised the largest Volkswagen Golf gathering ever recorded in Malaysia. This record saw a total of 370 Volkswagen Golfs gathered at the Volkswagen Golf Fan Fest 2024 held at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit (SIC) last weekend.
The official record plaque for the “Largest Volkswagen Golf Gathering” was handed to VPCM’s managing director Denyu Bostandzhiev at the event by a representative from the MBOR. Besides the record-breaking attempt partaken by VW Golf owners across the nation, this year’s Golf Fan Fest also featured several fun activities and exhibitions for all visitors to enjoy and indulge.
For starters, visitors to the festival were treated with the display of the Golf’s historic lineup that spans five decades, starting from the original 1974 VW Golf Mk1 to the latest Golf Mk8 model. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Golf in style, VPCM has also showcased the special Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50, with only 50 units available nationwide priced at RM267,990 with the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP) included.
Besides the classic model display, visitors also participated in several fun activities, such as the Golf R Drift Taxi ride, tech talks and workshops specially curated for VW Golf owners, racing simulators, as well as the grand finale for the Volkswagen’s Biggest Golf Fan contest.
More importantly, Golf owners who attended the festival were given the chance to test their driving skills and flaunt out their beloved vehicles via the Golf Gymkhana and Golf Showdown challenges, with the winners from each competition going home with a variety of prizes. To end the festival on a thrilling note, several Golf owners also took the chance to take their machines to the track for a few hot laps around the full SIC layout.
