CADB Appoints 23 Dealers; DongFeng Box Completes Localisation Test Ahead of Q4 Launch

Central Auto Distributors Bhd (CADB), exclusive importer and distributor of the DongFeng brand, announced their first model set for launch in Malaysia, the DongFeng Box, successfully completed a rigorous three-month localisation endurance test, covering 45,000KM as part of its final R&D phase.

Three units of the DongFeng Box were involved in the R&D process, led by engineers from DongFeng Motor China, to ensure that the vehicle’s fit, fixtures, ride, and handling will meet Malaysian expectations upon its official launch in Q4 2024. The tests conducted included the Adaptive Durability Test (DAT), Electric Road Test (ERT), and the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Test.

In preparation for the upcoming launch, CADB has opened two new experience centres — one at its headquarters in Cyberjaya, located at Wisma Yayasan PEKEMA, and another at its flagship dealership in Kota Damansara.
Additionally, 23 DongFeng dealers have been appointed nationwide to support CADB’s sales, distribution, and service network for the DongFeng brand. “The appointment of these dealers signifies the group's commitment to supporting the government's push toward EV adoption in the country,” said Datuk Hj. Mohamed Nazari, President of PEKEMA.

The DongFeng Box will be available in both Standard and Long Range variants:
- Standard Range: Equipped with a 31.45-kWh LFP battery pack, offering a maximum EV range of 330 KM (CLTC). It supports AC charging at 6.6 kW and DC fast charging at 76 kW.
- Long Range: Features a larger 42.3-kWh battery pack, extending the EV range to 430 KM (CLTC). It supports AC charging at 6.6 kW and DC fast charging at 87 kW.

All variants will include V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality.
Dato’ SM Zulkifli Amin, Operations Director of CADB, remarked, “With this extensive R&D process and the appointment of nationwide dealers, customers are guaranteed the best in terms of quality and safety. The DongFeng Box has been fine-tuned to suit Malaysian driving conditions and is set to revolutionise its segment in the EV space.”
