Chery Aces JD Power 2024 IQS
Chery has made great progress in vehicle quality, ranking No.1 in the JD Power 2024 China Initial Quality Study (IQS) with a score of 203 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). This is ahead of other domestic brands such as Geely (204 PP100) and GAC Trumpchi (206 PP100), thus showing Chery’s determination to improve quality and its position in both China and global markets.
Chery’s IQS ranking is a big achievement. It not only proves the brand’s competitiveness is growing but also shows it can catch up with international brands which scored 209 PP100 on average. With the domestic brands’ PP100 score down 10 points from last year, Chery’s No.1 ranking in quality is a big boost to the brand.
This will have big impact on Chery’s sales in key export markets like Malaysia where it is expanding. Chery’s focus on quality and introduction of tech-laden models like Tiggo 7 Pro has helped the brand to appeal to a wider customer base in Malaysia. As Malaysia sees growing demand for reliable and affordable cars, Chery’s quality reputation will boost its sales.
Also the brand’s success aligns with the growing interest in advanced driving assistance systems, an area where Chinese domestic brands, including Chery, are strong at. This is crucial for Malaysia’s competitive auto market where consumers are prioritising features like driving assistance and cabin comfort.
As Chery solidifies its position in Malaysia with its performance in JD Power IQS, the brand’s success will surely boost market confidence and drive sales as Malaysian consumers look for cars that offer affordability, reliability and technology. The Chery Group in Malaysia offers three sub brands under the parent company’s portfolio - Tiggo, Omoda and Jaecoo with its latest offering set to launch later this year the Omoda C9.
In the next few years, Chery’s continuous focus on quality will continue to appeal to Malaysian buyers and make the brand a strong competitor to local and international brands. This will also pave the way for future investments in the region and cement Chery’s position in Malaysia’s auto landscape.
Chery has so far pledged an investment of over RM1 billion, and aims to turn Malaysia into its ASEAN hub benefitting local parts suppliers.
