Chery Becomes First Chinese Automaker to Export 5 Million Vehicles

Chery has become the first Chinese automaker to reach the 5-million-unit export milestone.
Chery continues to strengthen its overseas presence by becoming the first Chinese automotive brand to export 5 million vehicles globally. This feat was achieved on July 31, 2025, where its global user base grew to over 17.18 million, with more than 5.17 million being overseas users.

According to CarNewsChina, Chery Group as a whole has shipped a total of 224,439 passenger vehicles globally in July 2025 alone, marking a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 14.7%. The Wuhu-based automaker also reported positive growth in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, with 65,357 units sold last month—a 44.1% YoY increase over the same period last year.
With these positive sales figures, Chery Group has retained its position as the leading exporter of Chinese automobiles for over 20 years, with 119,090 vehicles exported in July 2025, up 31.9% from the previous year.


In the first seven months of 2025, the automaker saw its cumulative sales reach 1,484,563 vehicles, marking a decent 14.5% increase over the previous year. Out of the 1.4 million vehicles delivered, 669,360 of them were designated for the export markets.
As for the first half of 2025 (1H 2025), Chery Group still retains the top Chinese exporter position, with 544,937 units sold in that period. Trailing behind Chery in second place was BYD, which exported 443,098 units in 1H 2025, marking a significant 118.2% increase over the same period last year.


CarNewsChina further added that the top three export destinations for Chery vehicles in 1H 2025 were Mexico, the UAE, and Russia, with export volumes of 234,500, 214,300, and 171,000 units, respectively. Other countries listed in Chery’s top ten export markets include Brazil, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Australia, the Philippines, and Kazakhstan.
