Geome Xingyuan Shown to Proton eMas Dealers in China – eMas 5 Confirmed?

Several Proton eMas dealers were shown the Geome Xingyuan EV during their China trip. Proton eMas 5 confirmed?
National EV marque Proton eMas recently organised a special trip to China with some of its dealers, where the visiting group was given a tour around Geely’s production facility as well as the opportunity to size up several models under Geely's vast wings.

Selected Proton eMas dealers were shown the Geome Xingyuan during their trip to Geely's production facility in Hangzhou, China.
Interestingly, one of the models shown to the dealers is the Geome Xingyuan, Geely’s new all-electric hatch that just made its Chinese debut earlier this year. Unveiled by this short video posted by Proton eMas’ official Facebook page, it appeared like the Xingyuan EV hatch was brought out specifically for the Proton eMas dealers to be checked out, thus hinting at its possible introduction under the Proton eMas banner.

A little background on this small EV hatch, the Geome Xingyuan is positioned as one of the brand’s entry-level EV products. Measuring 4,135 MM long, 1,805 MM wide, 1,570 MM tall, and a wheelbase of 2,650 MM, the Xingyuan is roughly the same size as the BYD Dolphin, with said EV hatch already making its debut in our market.
The China-spec Xingyuan arrives in two powertrain variants, with the baseline spec rated at 78 HP (58 kW) and boasting a V-Max of 125 KM/H. Meanwhile, the top-spec model will get a peppier motor setup rated at 114 HP (85 kW) that allows the car for a higher V-Max of 135 KM/H.

Battery-wise, the entry-level Xingyuan variant gets a smaller 30.12-kWh CATL-sourced LFP battery pack that supplies the car with up to 310 KM of CLTC range. Naturally, the top-spec variant will house a bigger 40.16-kWh LFP unit also from CATL, promising a better CLTC range of 410 KM.
Given that the Proton eMas dealers were shown the Geome Xingyuan during their visit to Geely’s Hangzhou Bay production facility, this gives us the impression that Proton might have some plan to introduce this compact EV hatch into our market. This is considered a common practice amongst many automakers out there, so the presence of the Xingyuan during this trip is surely intriguing, to say the least.

As it stood, the national automaker only confirmed one model for its new eMas EV sub-brand, with said model being the Proton eMas 7. Should Proton eMas decide to bring the Xingyuan here, we’d reckon this EV hatch will follow the same naming convention as its bigger stablemate, so Proton eMas 5, anyone?
