Porsche Sends Off The 911 Dakar with Special Sounderwunsch One-Off
Porsche has given the final production unit of the 911 Dakar a special send-off, courtesy of its Sonderwunsch division.
Since its inception last year, the Porsche 911 Dakar has set the automotive world by storm, showcasing how a high-performance, low-slung sportscar can be transformed into a proper gravel monster. Limited to only 2,500 units globally, this famed 4x4 911 has finally entered the end of its production run, which has prompted Porsche to do something special for the last model roll-off.
For the final production model of the 911 Dakar, Porsche has employed the help of its famed Sonderwunsch division, which is known for making special request models for selected clientele and special projects, to make a special one-off model. Borne out of this idea is this special 911 Dakar Sonderwunsch, which features some special design treatments and parts that sets it apart from the remaining 2,499 units of the 911 Dakar.
First thing you’ll notice about this special 911 Dakar is the striking yellow-and-blue racing livery, which according to Porsche is inspired by the 1984 Paris-Dakar rally-winning 911. Instead of the conventional Rothsmans-inspired livery which we’ve seen on other 911 Dakars, this one-off special combines Signal Yellow and Gentian Blue Metallic hues for a more striking look.
The same yellow hue was also used on its wheels, while the addition of hand-painted Lampedeusablue accents add some pop colours to this yellow-and-blue-themed model. Also unlike the standard 911 Dakar, the skid plates and other stainless steel elements of this special model are all painted in black.
The Sonderwunsch treatment continues as we get inside this one-off special. While most of the interior is draped in all-black leather and Alcantara upholstery, there’s also some contrasting stitches and accents scattered throughout the cabin, including some on the steering wheel, door panel, transmission tunnel, and the front dash. Also primed here are special puddle lights featuring Sonderwunsch lettering which only turn on when the doors are opened.
Predictably, the bespoke exercise doesn't see any changes to the 911 Dakar’s powertrain setup, as it gets the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six mill rated at 473 HP as the standard model. Said ‘boxer’ mill is mated to an 8-speed PDK automatic gearbox that sends drive to all four wheels.
Unsurprisingly, Porsche did not disclose any details regarding the price and the lucky owner of this special 911 Dakar Sonderwunsch one-off, but we’d reckon the former would inevitably cost more than the standard model’s $220,000 (RM983,400) sticker price. This special model will be displayed at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany, before it will be shipped out to the owner.
