It seems the problem of errant motorists who frequently park their cars illegally on the road shoulder in and around KLCC have irked many. In response, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) recently conducted a special operation to clamp down against these offenders.
Last weekend, the Kuala Lumpur district Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT KL) arm conducted the special operation mentioned on Saturday evening from 10PM until late – arguably a peak window and timeframe to catch these offenders.

“This operation was aimed to act against vehicles causing obstructions and parked in prohibited areas causing traffic disruption,” said JSPT KL chief Assistant Commissioner Mohs Zamzuri Mohd Isa. He also added that 30 officers were deployed to carry out the operation.
The operation was conducted on the roads in and around KLCC, which included Jalan Pinang, Jalan P Ramlee and Jalan Yap Kwan Seng. The operation concluded with officers issuing a total of 63 summonses - 12 under the POL 257 offence and 51 under the POL 170 A offence.

Apart from issuing summonses, JSPT KL officers carrying out the operation also warned visitors at the popular tourist hotspot not to park their vehicles on the road shoulder. They were also not allowed to snap photos from within their vehicles and cause traffic disruptions.
JSPT KL urges the public to report against errant motorist parking their vehicles on road shoulders in and around the KLCC area by calling its hotline at 03-2026 0267/69, or the Kuala Lumpur district police hotline at 03-211 59999. Reports can also be lodged at any nearby police station.
