Bermaz Xpeng has officially previewed the upcoming Xpeng X9 EV MPV, set to debut later in Q2 this year.

Following its debut in Singapore earlier this year, the much-anticipated Xpeng X9 EV MPV has finally made its first public appearance in Malaysia. Previewed by Bermaz Xpeng (BAuto), this luxury EV MPV is slated to make its official debut sometime later in Q2 this year.

For the Malaysian market, we’ve been told by Bermaz Xpeng that the X9 will be available in three variants, namely the baseline Standard Range 2WD Pro, the mid-spec Long Range 2WD Pro, and the range-topping Long Range Plus 2WD Pro.

The baseline variant is powered by a single, front-mounted (FWD) e-motor that packs 315 HP (235 kW) and 450 NM, which sees this behemoth completing a 0-100 KM/H sprint in 7.7 seconds. Juicing the baseline model is a smaller 84.5-kWh LFP-type battery pack that grants it up to 480 KM of WLTP range.

Moving on to the two Long Range variants, these models get a larger 101.15-kWh NMC battery pack that provides a longer maximum EV range of 575 KM (WLTP). Similarly, both the Malaysian-spec X9 Long Range 2WD variants use the same single e-motor setup as the Standard variant, as Bermaz Xpeng decided not to offer the dual-motor AWD version of the MPV.

Regardless of variants, all Malaysian-spec X9 underpin the brand’s proprietary SEPA 2.0 platform with an 800-volt architecture, thus granting the MPV with DCFC rate of up to 330 kW, meaning that a 10-80% charge can be completed in just 20 minutes. Other interesting features primed on the X9 include an all-wheel steering system and a decent minimum turning radius of 5.4 metres—both helping drivers to manoeuvre this gargantuan MPV more easily.

Similar to the Singaporean market, the Malaysian-spec X9 will only be available in a seven-seat configuration with a 2-2-3 layout. The second row gets two captain-style ‘Zero Gravity’ seats that are not only heated and ventilated but also can be fully reclined. Meanwhile, the third-row seats can be electrically folded down for better convenience, expanding the cargo space to 2,554 litres.

As with any other luxury MPVs, the X9 is also primed with tons of tech and comfort amenities. Key highlights include a massive 17.3-inch central infotainment screen, a 23-speaker Xopera sound system, a built-in refrigerator under the central console, stowaway tables for the second-row passengers, a separate 21.4-inch fold-down display for the rear passengers, a multi-colour ambient lighting system, and many more.

According to Bermaz Xpeng, the Xpeng X9 is slated to make its official market entry sometime later in Q2 this year. Although no price indications were given as for now, we can expect this luxurious e-MPV to be priced around the same region as its fellow Chinese adversaries, including the Zeekr 009 (from RM349,800), Maxus Mifa 9 (from RM269,888), and the upcoming Denza D9.
