Xpeng X9 RHD Unveiled in Singapore – Malaysia Next?

Xpeng has unveiled the RHD version of its X9 flagship EV MPV at the ongoing Singapore Motorshow. Malaysia next?
The Singapore Motorshow 2025 had just raised its curtains earlier this week, and we’ve already seen several new models making their inaugural appearance in the ASEAN region. One of which is the right-hand drive (RHD) version of the Xpeng X9 flagship EV MPV.

While the X9 MPV itself already made its ASEAN market debut in Thailand late last year, this is actually the first time an RHD version was shown to the public. Unlike the Thai market, however, the SG-bound X9 will be available in two variants, namely the baseline Standard Range and the top-spec Long Range. The base spec model uses a smaller 84.5-kWh for up to 480 KM of WLTP range, while the range-topping version gets a larger 101.15-kWh unit, granting it up to 575 KM of WLTP range.
Regardless of variants, all RHD versions of the X9 underpin the same SEPA 2.0 platform used on the Xpeng G6 SUV, which features an 800-volt architecture. This setup grants the ASEAN-spec X9 with fast charging capabilities of up to 330 kW, meaning that a 10-80% charge can theoretically be completed in just 20 minutes.
Not to forget, both variants also share the same single-motor FWD powertrain setup rated at 315 HP (235 kW) and 450 NM—good enough to accelerate this electrified behemoth from 0-100 KM/H in 7.7 seconds.

On the design front, it seems the X9 RHD boasts no significant design changes over its Chinese counterpart, as it also gets the same MPV bodystyle with sharp lines and a sporty rear windscreen a la coupe SUVs.
Dimension-wise, this flagship EV MPV measures 5,293 MM long, 1,988 MM wide, 1,785 MM tall, and a wheelbase of 3,160 MM, thus putting it in the same category as other RHD EV MPVs from China, such as the Zeekr 009 and Maxus MIFA 9, to name a few. To help Singapore drivers manoeuvre this electric behemoth through their small streets, Xpeng has equipped the SG-spec X9 with a rear-wheel steering (RWS) system that reduces its turning radius down to 5.4 metres.

For the Singaporean market, the Xpeng X9 will only be available in a seven-seat configuration with a 2-2-3 layout, where the third-row seats can be electrically folded down for better convenience. Apart from the switched steering wheel position, the RHD-spec X9 seems to get the same amenities list as their Chinese twins, which includes the massive 17.3-inch central infotainment screen, a 21.4-inch fold-down display for the rear passengers, a built-in chiller, plush leather-wrapped seats, a 23-speaker Xopera audio system, and many more.

Xpeng Singapore has already opened the order books for the new Xpeng X9 RHD, where three exterior colourways and two interior ones are available. Deliveries for the X9 are slated to commence later in Q1 2025, where its tentative pricing is set from SGD 315,000 (RM1.034 million) onwards, inclusive of a SGD 5,000 early-bird discount.
Closer to home, the Xpeng X9 has been long rumored to make its local debut, with local Xpeng brand vanguard Bermaz Auto (BAuto) previously hinting at its arrival sometime later this year. Given that both the Zeekr 009 and Maxus MIFA 9 already made their Malaysian debuts prior, perhaps we can expect the X9 to arrive in our market sooner than we thought.
