Xpeng G7 Unveiled in China as Brand’s Latest Sleek EV SUV

First images of the Xpeng G7 EV SUV have surfaced in China, tentatively priced from CNY 200,000 (RM123,000) onwards.
Another week, another new EV model unveiled in China, this time around from up-and-coming EV marque, Xpeng. Christened as the Xpeng G7, the first few images of this sleek, coupe-ish EV SUV were revealed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) website ahead of its expected launch later in the first half of 2025.
As its name suggests, the new Xpeng G7 will be slotted between the G6 coupe SUV and the larger G9 SUV as the brand’s true midsize EV SUV fighter. From MIIT’s website, we’ve been told that the G7 spans 4,892 MM long, 1,925 MM wide, 1,655 MM tall, with a wheelbase of 2,890 MM. This technically makes the G7 1 MM longer than the G9, although the latter has a 108 MM longer wheelbase.

From the images, we can see that the G7 adopts a sportier design approach than the G9, while featuring some familiar design traits that can also be found on other Xpeng models. Key design highlights include the Xpeng’s signature front face featuring slim LED DRLs and a full-width light bar, a sleek side profile with a coupe-ish roofline, flushed door handles, as well as the EV6-inspired rear end featuring full-width LED taillights, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a blacked-out rear bumper.

Not to forget, the G7 is also available with two wheel options, with the baseline models getting smaller 18-inch units, while the top-flight ones rolling on larger 20-inch units instead.

On the topic of variants, no specific details were revealed about the number of variants offered for the G7, but China’s MIIT site revealed four different curb weights of the SUV. With the first two models weighing in at 2,085 and 2,100 KG, while the other two at 2,145 KG and 2,160 KG, CarNewsChina speculated that these numbers might indicate that the G7 will be available in two powertrain options, with the former two presumably being the lower spec version.
Said Chinese news outlet also reported that the G7 might be getting a 218 kW-rated electric motor setup supplied by Xpeng’s Wuhan division. Battery-wise, we’ve been told that the G7 will use CALB lithium iron phosphate batteries, with no specific capacities mentioned for now.

Set to go on sale sometime later in 2025, the upcoming Xpeng G7 reportedly will be priced from CNY 200,000 (RM123,000 approx.) onwards, thus making it yet another affordable yet premium alternative to the western-branded EVs. We can expect to learn more about this sleek EV SUV as we get closer to its actual launch date.
