Xiaomi EVs Will Be Exported Via a Third-Party Company

Xiaomi Auto recently appointed a third-party company to help export its EVs to overseas markets.
If you’ve been ogling your eyeballs on the new Xiaomi SU7 and YU7 EVs for months, good news for you because both models might finally head to the overseas market. That is because the Chinese tech giant recently appointed a third-party company to help export its EVs to overseas markets.

According to CarNewsChina, Xiaomi Auto recently reached an agreement with Hyperion Leasing to promote the export of electric cars to core markets. Prior to this, Xiaomi insisted that it wouldn’t officially export cars for some years, focusing solely on the high domestic demand instead.
For those who aren’t familiar with Hyperion Leasing, this Tianjin-based company is a state-owned China National Machinery Industry (Sinomach) subsidiary. This company was founded in 1997 as an enterprise directly managed by the Chinese government, where it currently has over 160,000 employees and a market presence in over 170 countries worldwide.
From the agreement, we understand that both Xiaomi Auto and Hyperion Leasing will jointly promote Xiaomi EVs in major global markets. However, it wasn’t clarified what markets are considered ‘major,’ but at least we finally get to see Xiaomi EVs making their landfall in some overseas markets in the near future.

Xiaomi SU7 EV Saloon
In its native China, Xiaomi Auto currently sells the SU7 EV saloon, which retails from CNY 215,900 (RM132,000) onwards. Said EV saloon proved to be a big hit among the Chinese, with its cumulative sales volume peaking at 139,487 units in 2024 alone, while waiting months may span from 5 to 8 months after placing an order.

Xiaomi YU7 EV SUV
Besides the SU7, Xiaomi Auto has also unveiled its second-ever model, the YU7. Featuring a sleek coupe SUV bodystyle, the YU7 is slated to hit the Chinese market sometime later this year, provided that Xiaomi manages to complete the construction of its second assembly plant on schedule.
Prior to this, Xiaomi initially aimed to export its EVs by the end of the decade, as it will focus solely on catering to the vast Chinese market in the first few years. With this new agreement announced, we can expect to see Xiaomi EVs making their landfall in overseas markets in the near future.

The Xiaomi SU7 was previewed in Malaysia last year in a special roadshow event organised by Xiaomi Malaysia.
Closer to home, Xiaomi previously brought the SU7 into Malaysia as part of Xiaomi Malaysia’s promotional campaign on some of its mobile devices. Does this mean that Malaysia will also be included among the ‘major’ global markets that Xiaomi intends to export their EVs to?
