Four Temporary R&R Stops will be Built on LTU Highway

The Pahang state government is planning to build four temporary R&R stops along the Central Spine Road (LTU).
The Pahang state government is planning to build four temporary R&R stops along the Central Spine Road, or the Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU). As reported by NST, these temporary stops will help to cater to drivers using the LTU highway to return to their hometowns this upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Pahang Chief Minister YAB Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the four temporary R&R stops will be built next week between Bentong and Kampung Relong, Lipis, in anticipation of increased traffic volume on the LTU during the festive season. Construction of these stops is scheduled to be completed next week, where it will be in operation five days before Aidilfitri.

Two of them will be located in Bentong in both directions, while one will be in Raub and the last one will be near Kechau Tui in Lipis district. Pahang MB also said these four temporary stops will cost the state government about RM2.5 million to build, where they will be equipped with mobile toilets, washrooms, garbage bins, and dedicated parking areas.

“We have requested immediate assistance from the federal government with the construction of the four rest areas. If there are delays, the Pahang government will start work using our funds before claiming the allocation from the federal government,” he added.
Wan Rosdy also said that although temporary, the four R&R stops will help enhance the comfort and safety of road users.
“Something is better than nothing, so we will soon have temporary rest stops along the LTU, and road users can utilise them until the construction of the permanent stops is completed by the works ministry,” he said.
“I hope the previous episodes involving reports of littering along the expressway will not happen this year and road users will adhere to the rules. I hope the new facilities along the LTU will ensure a smoother journey for those using the stretch during the Aidilfitri festive season,” the Pahang MB added.
