No Lane Closures for Roadworks - March 24 to April 7
Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi earlier today announced that all Highway maintenance work involving lane closures will be temporarily halted from March 24 to April 7 in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
"During festive seasons, many people travel back to their hometowns. As usual, we have instructed that no construction or road maintenance work be carried out during this time, as it would disrupt traffic and cause congestion.
"Therefore, in conjunction with Aidilfitri, this restriction will be in place from March 24 to April 7. Only critical or emergency works will be allowed, while all other maintenance activities will be postponed," he said.
He made these remarks to reporters after officiating the opening of Federal Route FT51 Seremban-Kuala Pilah on Friday.
According to him, the decision aligns with the enforcement operations carried out by various agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Road Transport Department (JPJ), and the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia.
When asked about toll discounts for Aidilfitri, he confirmed that they would continue, similar to those offered during the Chinese New Year celebrations, with an official announcement to be made soon.
