The BVYD Dolphin has been revised a second time with a new 2025MY guise released in China recently featuring a slew of changes inside and out.

The BYD Dolphin EV hatch has been revised a second time, with this latest 2025MY guise revealed recently in China packing a host of changes inside and out. Included are a series of notable styling revisions, followed by a slew of uprated tech and features.

Visually, the new 2025MY model gains tweaked styling that aligns with the BYD brand’s newest design direction. This explains the new front and rear fascia featuring reshaped LED head- and taillights, redesigned bumpers, as well as new 16- and 17-inch rolling stock designs too.

Another critical change in the exterior is the deletion of the ‘Build Your Dreams’ script badge in favour of simpler ‘BYD’ lettering at the rear. The latter bit is also integrated into the full-width taillight bar that spans across the entire tailgate.

Notable exterior tweaks include revised front and rear ends, new rolling stock designs, as well as simplified script badges.

Moving inside and it though the 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen appears unchanged, sources online report it has gained 5G connectivity. Besides that, the digital instrument display panel has grown from 5 inches to 8.8 inches now.

Further changes can be seen in the dashboard as the centre console has been redesigned. The storage tray underneath the rotating screen has been deleted, whilst the wireless smartphone charging pad is now repositioned further forward, and there’s also new shortcut buttons primed.

Changed too is the gear selector, which is now presented as a steering column stalk instead of a rocker switch in the centre console previously. Changes here even include new steering wheel buttons, new heated and cooled Centre console storage bin, and multi-colour ambient lighting.

According to BYD, the Dolphin has been made quieter than before, with the NEV-making giant claiming "cinema-level" noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels granted by "multiple configuration optimisations".

Changes aboard sees a larger new digital instrument panel, newly added cooled and heated storage bin in the centre console, redesigned central dash, plus new multi-colour ambient lighting, amongst others.

For its Chinese home market, BYD have added a new mid-specced variant into the line-up featuring 174 HP and 290 NM outputs. It slots above a base-spec variant offering 94 HP and 180 NM and below a range-topper that boasts 201 HP and 350 NM outputs.

Aptly, all are single-motor configurations driving the front wheels. The base- and mid-spec variants does see battery capacity grow from 44.9 kWh to 45.1 kWh, whereas the range-topper’s 60.5 kWh capacity remains unchanged.

One key change is the increased DC charging speeds of 80 kW and 100 KW for the smaller and bigger battery packs respectively - these were previously capped at 60 KW and 80 KW respectively.

Arguably the biggest mechanical change to note is the quicker 80 kW and 100 kW DC charging abilities now primed for each battery size mentioned – DC charging was respectively capped at 60 KW and 80 KW prior. Both now promise 30-80% recharges in 25 minutes instead of 30 minutes.

Unchanged though are both the 7 kW AC charging input rating, as well as the CLTC-rated range figures of up to 520 KM for the base- and mid-spec variants noted, and up to 427 KM for the range-topper.

Whilst on the mechanical changes still BYD also touts that tweaks to the electrical system now promise enhanced energy efficiency, whilst a new heat pump primed is 15% smaller and 10% more efficient that before too.

Lastly comes the inclusion of BYD's latest - and greatest - 'God's Eye' ADAS suites powered by 29 sensors altogether.

Lastly, this latest 2025MY iteration of the BYD Dolphin hatch also gains the marque’s latest – and arguably greatest – semi-autonomous driving tech in the form of its ‘God’s Eye’ ADAS suite. This package brings 29 sensors altogether to enable high degrees of semi-autonomous driving.

No word yet if BYD will roll out this uprated version of the Dolphin for overseas markets, but this is expected to happen soon enough.
