Auto Shanghai 2025: Chery Tiggo 9L Debuts As Brand’s Smartest, Toughest SUV Yet

At Auto Shanghai 2025, one of the standout stars from Chery was its all-new Tiggo 9L - a mid-to-large SUV designed to handle everything from family life and city commutes to weekend adventures off the beaten path.
Right away, the Chery Tiggo 9L makes a strong first impression with its bold, boxy silhouette - clearly inspired by classic off-roaders like the Land Cruiser. Its wide stance, sharp lines, and flat roofline give it a commanding road presence, while the muscular wheel arches and width indicator lights add to its rugged appeal.
Up front, a sleek through-type LED light bar stretches across the grille, flanked by square headlamps that give it a confident look. The Chery badge is prominently placed in the center, reinforcing the brand’s identity with a touch of boldness.

From the side, the SUV keeps things clean and tough. A sturdy roof rack adds a sense of adventure, while the laser radar mounted on top hints at the tech hiding under the surface.
And it's not just about looks - the Tiggo 9L is smart, too. According to Chery, the Tiggo 9L will run the Falcon 700 intelligent driving system, and it’s the first in the lineup to use Chery’s cutting-edge 3nm AI chip. This brings lightning-fast responsiveness and seamless control, thanks to end-to-end large-model AI integration.

Innovation continues on board as the Tiggo 9L features an AI-driven digital chassis system that includes active hydraulic suspension and adaptive driving controls. It can actually learn from different driving scenarios, adjusting performance in real-time to deliver both comfort and control.

Under the hood, it’s powered by Chery’s Kunpeng CDM-S hybrid system, delivering 270 HP and 400 NM. It’s paired with a new DHT intelligent transmission capable of revving up to 24,000 RPM. Add in a 310 HP triple e-motor setup with all-wheel-drive (AWD), and it delivers serious power, traction and handling abilities.
In short, the Tiggo 9L doesn’t just look capable, it is backed up with real performance and next-gen smarts. It also blends the rugged utility of a traditional SUV with Chery’s latest tech in electrification and AI.
