LTSAS’s Terminal Expansion Increased Passenger Capacity To 700,000

The newly renovated and expanded terminal building at Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) has increased the airport's capacity from 500,000 to 700,000 passengers annually.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) Managing Director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani stated that the upgrades included expanding the terminal building, improving check-in and arrival areas, and enhancing immigration facilities to provide a smoother passenger experience.
“In addition, the LTSAS is now equipped with upgraded security infrastructure, such as closed circuit television (CCTV) monitoring and scanning machines,” he said in a Bernama report.
The RM8 million project, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, represents MAHB's ongoing dedication to enhancing aviation infrastructure across the country.

These improvements, according to Izani, aim to provide passengers with greater comfort, safety, and convenience in the years ahead.
The MD explained that each enhancement was based on a comprehensive strategy encompassing infrastructure engineering and passenger flow management. These efforts align with the goals of the National Transport Policy and the national development objectives outlined in the 12th Malaysian Plan.
In addition, MAHB announced that the LTSAS optimization project has increased terminal space by over 10%, effectively doubling the airport’s peak-hour passenger handling capacity from 240 to 510 passengers per hour.
“Supporting this increase, every holding lounge has been significantly enlarged from 71 sq m to 270 sq m, with new seating installed to accommodate up to 80% of peak-hour demand.
“On the departure side, immigration counters have been increased from two to four, with infrastructure in place to support the addition of two autogates in future.

“Meanwhile, for arriving passengers, the number of counters has been upgraded from four to six, also with provisions for two future autogates,” it said.
