Report: Chery Is China’s Top Auto Exporter In Q1 2025

Chinese automaker Chery Group (Chery) continues to stand as China's top auto exporter in the first quarter of this year (Q1 2025) with 255,465 units sold outside China in said period.
CarNewsChina recently reported that the Chery Group (Chery) continues to be China’s leading auto exporter in the first quarter (Q1) of this year (2025). During said period, the Wuhu-rooted automaking firm shifted 255,465 units outside China.
In fact, Chery’s total exports in March 2025 alone totalled at 86,414 units to mark a 3% year-on-year (YoY) increase. Critically, 62,210 units of which were new energy vehicles (NEVs), and this alone saw a massive 125% YoY growth rate.
Continuing with Chery’s March 2025 exports, the group saw 18,955 Chery, 54,020 Jetour, 10,005 Luxeed, 7,618 Exeed and 7,016 iCar vehicles shifted worldwide. Notably, the Chery Tiggo 5X model also saw cumulative overseas sales surpass one million units. It now joins the Tiggo 7 in attaining the group’s so-called ‘million-export club’ status.

Overall, Chery’s Q1 2025 global sales total stood at 620,025 units, thus marking a 17% YoY increase. This figure is also the highest the automaker has achieved in any calendar quarterly history.
From which, roughly 95% - or 590,533 units – consists of Chery-badged models, marking a 19% YoY increase here. Included too were 163,458 units of NEVs encompassing hybrids (HEVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), and battery electric vehicles (BEVs), altogether marking an impressive 172% YoY increase too.
In terms of user base, Chery reportedly notes that its global cumulative total for which has exceeded 16.3 million, and it includes up to 4.7 million users presently based outside China.
With the Chery Group preparing to go public some time year, the firm also recently filed for a Hong Kong IPO last month, and this was aimed at accelerating its EV ambitions further too.
