2025 BMW M2 CS Unveiled — Up to 523 HP, More Aggressive Design

Also unveiled at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is the all-new, second-gen BMW M2 CS.
Besides the sleek Concept Speedtop, BMW has also used the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este’s centre stage to unveil the most potent version of its smallest M model, the all-new 2025 BMW M2 CS. Compared to the standard M2 model, the new M2 CS gets a power boost for its straight-six mill while featuring more aggressive and lightweight body parts.

While BMW is holding back the full specs until May 27, CarScoops reported that the new M2 CS will feature the same recipe as many other CS models—more power, less weight. The former part comes in the form of a healthy 50 HP bump bestowed upon its 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six S58 mill, thus bringing its total system output to 523 HP, while torque has also been improved to 649 Nm.
Unfortunately, from the images, it seems that the new M2 CS won’t be getting a stick-shift manual option, instead coming exclusively with the same 8-speed ZF-sourced gearbox used on the standard M2 model.
Beyond the power boost, we can expect BMW M engineers to deploy some serious diet regime to the new M2 CS in a bid to further improve its power-to-weight ratio. Given that its total system output now surpasses the rear-wheel-drive BMW M4 Competition, we can already tell that the new M2 CS will be an exhilarating driving machine.

On the visual front, we can see that the new M2 CS looks more aggressive than its already aggressive-looking standard twin. Up front, the new M2 CS gets a unique kidney grille design that adopts a single horizontal bar instead of multiple slats. The redesigned grille is complemented by larger lower air intakes and a sharp new front splitter.

The official images also confirm that the new M2 CS gets the same ducktail spoiler as the more radical CSL models, plus a carbon-fibre reinforced trunk lid that helps to shed some extra weight from this coupe. Other new design changes include a new set of bronze wheels shod in wider, stickier tyres, larger red-hued M brake callipers, and many more.

From the limited on-board image, we can see that the new M2 CS adopts sportier bucket seats with contrasting stitches and pipings, plus several CS brandings scattered around the cabin. Despite its CS moniker, the new M2 CS still gets the same creature comforts as its non-CS twin, including the same dual-screen setup, the dual-zone climate control, and many more.

We can expect to learn more about the all-new, G87-gen BMW M2 CS as we get closer to its official global debut later on May 27. Until then, what do you think of the manic version of BMW’s smallest and most compact M model to date?
