This HKS-Tuned Toyota GR Yaris is the Ultimate JDM Hot-Hatch
HKS has tuned the already manic Toyota GR Yaris hot-hatch with its new special lightweight aero bodykit.
Think the standard Toyota GR Yaris is a bit too plain for your liking? Good news, because renowned Japanese tuning firm HKS has just released its latest aero bodykit for the JDM hot-hatch. Known as the Type-S Gen2, this track-focused kit features tons of aggressive aero parts made from various lightweight materials, and HKS claims they aren’t just for show.
The kit starts at the front, where it adds a new, more pronounced front splitter made from glass fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP), while its end plates are made from carbon fibre for better aesthetics. Besides making the GR Yaris look fiercer, this new splitter actually helps to increase downforce over the front part of this hot-hatch.
Down to the sides, the GR Yaris gets equally-aggressive side skirts, which are also made from GFRP. But they are still pale in comparison to the rear part, where HKS has dressed the hot-hatch with a swan neck-style rear wing made from carbon fibre, which is accompanied by aero spats on both edges of the rear bumper—also made from carbon fibre.
As mentioned above, these additions aren’t just for the extra street cred, as HKS says they actually add some extra downforce and contribute to improving the car’s overall aerodynamic performance, although no real-world figures were given for now.
Fortunately, we won’t be waiting too long, as HKS already took this tuned-up GR Yaris to Japan’s 2025 Super Endurance Series, where the hot-hatch competes in the ST-2 class, and we can’t think of a better stage for them to try out this new aero kit.
In native Japan, this new HKS Type-S Gen2 bodykit for the Toyota GR Yaris can now be purchased either separately or as a full kit, with the front splitter retailing at JPY 165,000 (RM4,851), while both the side skirts and rear wing cost JPY 132,000 (RM3,881) each. As of now, HKS has yet to confirm the availability of this bodykit on overseas markets, so local GR Yaris owners better get their fingers crossed now.
Besides this sporty bodykit, HKS also offers several performance upgrades for the GR Yaris, ranging from exhaust systems, suspensions, intercooler kits, ECUs, engine upgrade kits, and many more.
