Nissan Skyline 400R Limited Unveiled in Japan as a 400-Unit-Only Special

Nissan bids farewell to the thirteenth-gen Skyline sedan with a special, 400-unit-only 400R Limited version in Japan.
While Nissan already discontinued the R35-gen GT-R earlier this year, it seems that its four-door saloon twin, the Nissan Skyline, will soldier on, as a special 400R Limited model was unveiled in Japan. And as its name suggests, only 400 units of this limited-edition Skyline will be available, priced at JPY 6.935 million (RM191,243).

And just like the original Nissan Nismo 400R, the new Skyline 400R Limited also gets a total power output of 400 hp, although this time around it comes from a familiar 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 VR30DDTT engine. Unlike the R35, however, the 400R Limited comes exclusively with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup and uses a 7-speed automatic transmission.
While this may sound impressive, the 400R Limited is still not as potent as its Nismo-badged twin, which is rated higher at 414 hp and 550 Nm thanks to a Nismo-tuned V6 engine.

Besides the uprated engine, the 400R Limited also gets beefier brake pads that are more fade-resistant for consistent performance at high temperatures, while the front damper gets a 4% stiffer spring rate and the rear stabilisers spring rate is up by 44% for improved driving dynamics.

Mechanical upgrades aside, the Skyline 400R Limited also gets several special exterior tweaks. Some key highlights include a distinctive ‘400R Limited’ badge at the rear, carbon fibre side mirror covers and boot lid spoiler, special 19-inch alloy wheels shod in special Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 tyres, and a new Wangan Blue exterior colour.

Buyers will also get a special serial number plate inside the 400R Limited, plus two colour options are available for choice—black or white. Other than that, the cabin amenities remain unchanged from the standard Skyline model, which looks a bit dated considering the model was originally launched more than a decade ago.

As mentioned above, only 400 units of the Nissan Skyline 400R Limited will be available in Japan, thus making it more special than the more potent Nismo version, which gets 1,000 examples and is priced higher at JPY 7.88 million (RM217,303). Order books for the 400R Limited will start from Nov 13 onwards in native Japan, with deliveries set to commence later on Dec 18.
