JMS 2025: Mitsubishi Elevance Concept Bows With Quad-Motor PHEV Setup
For JMS 2025, Mitsubishi took the wraps off its new Elevance concept, which came complete with a matching trailer.

Not one to miss out on showcasing its latest metal and vision at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 (JMS 225) earlier this week in Tokyo, Japan, Mitsubishi rolled out what many sources online have tipped as a possible ‘preview’ of the next-gen Outlander.
However, what really piques our interest in the Mitsubishi Elevance concept is the proposed powertrain it packs. Underneath, this concept crossover SUV packs a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup featuring no less than FOUR e-motors – one on each corner.
What's certainly notable is the concept PHEV powertrain envisioned, which boasts up to four e-motors that promises "ample power" output levels.

This was also evident through the Japanese tri-diamond marque touting the concept’s adoption of its Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel-drive (AWD) tech. The automaker also promises “ample power” even “when paired with a trailer.”
Despite said claims, Mitsubishi skirted away from revealing exact powertrain details. It did however promise that the Elevance concept – and its matching trailer – is capable of traversing various off-road terrain types – sand and dirt included.

Notable too are the' freestyle' doors granting easier access to a cabin that houses three rows of seats for six persons.

Visually, the Mitsubishi Elevance concept still carries the marque’s signature ‘Dynamic Shield’ motif, evident through both the forward lighting arrangement and prominent underbody cladding. These convey “elegance with strength”, adds the automaker.
Other key design touches include the distinct taillight signature that’s now slimmed down and wrapping around the rear quarter panels. Notable too are the ‘freestyle’ door opening that grants access to a cabin housing three rows of seats for up to six persons.

On board, the tri-diamond marque showed some restraint versus what's seen in the exterior. Note the rich use of leather, plus the AI Co-Pilot brimmed in the digital displays.

On board, the cabin is richly decked out in plush leather, with Mitsubishi casting spotlight on an AI Co-Driver displayed via the instrument panel. This, the automaker adds, offers “personalised destination suggestions”, amongst other functions.
That aside, Mitsubishi remained vague with its plans for the concept, so it’s unclear still if it will make production just yet. This is also highly dependent on the concept’s public reception at JMS 2025.
