XPeng X9 Begins ASEAN Rollout In Thailand

XPeng officially started shipping right-hand-drive (RHD) units of the X9 to Thailand, marking its first step into ASEAN. A ceremony in Guangzhou celebrated the shipment of 300 units, with deliveries set to begin as soon as they arrive in Thailand.
launched in China in Jan 2024, the XPeng X9 is the brand’s flagship model that underpins the SEPA 2.0 architecture. In China, the XPeng X9 starts at RMB359,800 (RM220,000) and accounts for 11.39% (21,653 units) of the marque’s 2024 sales.

Thailand is the first ASEAN market to get the X9. This follow up from XPeng’s partnership with Neo Mobility Asia announced in March 2024, followed by its launch in Nov the same year.
Malaysia could be next in line as local media recently got a sneak peek at the RHD XPeng X9, hinting at an official launch as early as Q2 2025 through local distributor Bermaz Auto. This move would bring the X9 into a competitive space, taking on rivals like the Zeekr 009 and Denza D9.
XPeng launched its first offering in Malaysia, the XPeng G6, back in Q4, 2024.

XPeng is pushing for rapid global expansion as CEO He Xiaopeng highlighted XPeng’s mission to become a key player in both left-hand drive (LHD) and RHD international EV markets, with smart driving technology being a crucial advantage.
The company’s Turing AI Intelligent Driving System is set for a global rollout in 2026, enhancing smart driving across different road conditions. XPeng is also focused on software, rolling out major over-the-air (OTA) updates like OTA 5.2 in Aug 2024 and OTA 5.4 in Jan 2025, ensuring an improved experience for international users.

To support its expansion, XPeng is building a global charging network. Starting in 2025, it will launch ultra-fast charging stations in Southeast Asia, beginning with Hong Kong and Thailand. However, as we were informed before, for Malaysia, the brand will work with a selected charge point operator (CPO) when it comes to vehicle charging.
Today, XPeng operates in over 30 international markets. By the end of 2025, it plans to double its global presence to reach 60 countries and establish 300 global service locations. This roll-out is in line with CEO He Xiaopeng's recent statement calling 2024 the beginning of "XPeng Globalization V2.0."
