2025 Volvo EX90 & XC90 Now Open for Booking – Est RM450K
Order books for both the new Volvo EX90 and XC90 facelift have been opened, with prices tentatively starting at RM450,000.
Following the commencement of its online registration of interests (ROIs) earlier this month, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has now opened the order books for its new flagship SUV duo, the EX90 and the XC90 facelift. The seven-seater duo is slated to make its local debut soon, with retail prices expected to be around the RM450,000 mark.

Starting with the EX90, this EV SUV is Volvo’s first fully electric seven-seater model for the global market. Due to its flagship status, the EX90 gets all the bells and whistles the Swedish marque has to offer, while its design has set a precedent for all future Volvo EVs to follow, including both the EX30 and the newly unveiled ES90.
Key design highlights for the EX90 include the new grill-less front face featuring Volvo’s new Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, C-shaped LED taillights with extended LED strips on the D-pillars, a conventional SUV bodystyle, 21-inch alloy wheels, and many more. On top of that, keen eyes will also notice that the Malaysian-spec EX90 comes with a LiDAR unit on the roof, thus making it the first LiDAR-equipped car to go on sale in our market.
Given its flagship status, the EX90’s cabin is brimming with premium touches and equipment, and this applies to all three rows of this seven-seater SUV. Some key amenities include a 14.5-inch infotainment screen powered by Google OS, a small digital instrument cluster with a dedicated head-up display (HUD), ventilated and powered front seats wrapped in sustainably sourced upholstery material, a slew of wood veneer trims, a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and many more.
As of now, VCM has yet to reveal the exact variants of the EX90 for our market, but this flagship SUV does come in two variants for the global market. Starting with the baseline Twin Motor variant, it uses a dual-motor AWD setup rated at 402 HP (300 kW) and 770 NM, which allows for a decent 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 5.9 seconds before hitting its electronically limited top speed of 180 KM/H. Juice is provided by a sizable 111-kWh CATL lithium-ion battery pack that grants it over 600 KM of WLTP range.
Meanwhile, the top-spec Twin Motor Performance model gets a peppier dual-motor AWD setup that delivers up to 510 HP (380 kW) and 910 NM, thus granting it a much more rapid century sprint time of only 4.9 seconds for this behemoth. Using the same battery pack as the Twin Motor model, the Performance variant gets a slightly discounted EV range of 590 KM (WLTP).
Moving on to the new XC90, this is the second facelift treatment granted to this flagship seven-seater, giving it a much-needed second life a decade after its inception. Revealed globally late last year, the new XC90 gains several EX90-inspired design updates, including new Thor’s hammer LED headlights, a new front grille with diagonal-patterned inserts, a redesigned front bumper with vertical fog lamps and a wider lower air intake, as well as new lighting signatures for its L-shaped LED taillights.
More changes take place inside the new XC90, as the cabin is now laced with several new plush trims and upholsteries made from recycled materials, plus a host of equipment upgrades. The latter comes in the form of a new 11.2-inch portrait-oriented infotainment screen powered by Google's built-in OS and a new cupholder design that allows for more space at the central console.
Perhaps the bigger or more important upgrades given to the new XC90 are on its powertrain setup, with the T8 variant getting an improved plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup. Still comprising a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill rated at 306 HP and a 143 HP-rated e-motor, the new XC90 T8 gets an improved all-electric range of 70 KM (WLTP).
Customers who are interested in pre-booking both the new Volvo EX90 and XC90 facelift can do so via Volvo Car Malaysia’s dedicated web portal, or alternatively visit any Volvo authorised dealerships nearby.
