Luxeed V9 Unveiled in China as Huawei-Chery’s New EREV MPV

Huawei’s HIMA latest model is a luxurious EREV MPV jointly developed with Chery known as the Luxeed V9.
Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) has expanded its product lineup by unveiling the official images of its first range-extender (EREV) MPV, the Luxeed V9. Jointly-developed with Chery, this luxurious peoplemover features all the latest tech HIMA has to offer, as well as a range-extender powertrain system that promises up to 1,200 km of combined travel range.
We’ll start with the design, where the V9 adopts some familiar design features seen on other Luxeed models. This includes the overall front face of the MPV, which features oval-shaped LED headlights with a full-width LED bar, a wide front grille on the lower front bumper, and a roof-mounted LiDAR unit that indicates a high degree of autonomous driving capabilities.

From the side, the V9 gets a slightly more rounded body shape compared to other Chinese luxury MPVs, plus some chrome trims, and rolls on 19-inch wheels. Size-wise, the V9 spans 5,359 mm long, 2,009 mm wide, and 1,879 mm tall with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm, thus putting it on par with other popular Chinese MPVs like the Xpeng X9, Zeekr 009, and many more.

Rounding off the exterior bits are the full-width LED taillights with the Luxeed lettering scattered across at the centre of the tailgate.

While no interior images were officially published for now, Luxeed did share that the V9 will adopt a 2-2-3 seating arrangement featuring two independent zero-gravity seats with leg rests and 180-degree rotation in the second row. Other premium amenities primed here include a triple-screen setup on the front dash, a roof-mounted rear entertainment screen, a built-in refrigerator, an oxygen generator, and the industry’s first helmet airbags.

On the powertrain front, the upcoming V9 adopts Huawei’s new “Snow Owl Intelligent Silent Range Extension System,” featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine rated at 154 hp as its core. Drive is provided by two electric motors, while two battery capacities are offered, namely a smaller 37.017 kWh LFP unit or a larger 53.352 kWh ternary lithium pack from CATL.
Depending on the battery and motor setups, Huawei claims the V9 is good for up to 223 km of pure electric range, or around 1,200 km of comprehensive travel range—both figures are based on the WLTC standards. Underpinning Huawei’s latest DriveONE 800-volt silicon carbide high-voltage platform, the V9 is able to support super-fast charging capabilities, although no specific figures were mentioned for now.

The upcoming Luxeed V9 is slated to make its official debut sometime later in Q1 this year, with CarNewsChina reporting that it will be priced somewhere around the CNY 400,000 to CNY 500,000 (RM227,738–RM284,673) region. And just like many other Luxeed or HIMA models, it remains to be seen whether the V9 will ever be making its way to markets beyond the Great Wall, at least for now.
