Thaipusam 2026: Free Komuter, ETS, And Shuttles
Getting to Batu Caves for Thaipusam 2026 is about to get a whole lot easier. Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is offering two days of free Komuter rides, plus special nonstop services for four days to make travel smoother for festival-goers, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced today at KL Sentral.
The free Komuter rides kick off at midnight on 31 Ja and run until 11:59PM on 1 Feb, using an Automatic Gate Control (AGC) system for easy checkouts.
Over this period, 609 Komuter trips will be operated, covering key routes like Batu Caves – Pulau Sebang (302 trips), Batu Caves – Port Klang (165 trips), and Tanjong Malim – KL Sentral (142 trips). A total of 28 stations will remain open 24 hours a day, ensuring visitors can hop on and off at any time.

For long-distance travelers, KTMB is adding eight extra Electric Train Service (ETS) trips from 29 January to 3 February, covering major routes such as JB Sentral – Butterworth, JB Sentral – KL Sentral, KL Sentral – Ipoh, and KL Sentral – Butterworth.
A total of 10,080 tickets will be available for these additional services, helping visitors reach their destinations quickly and comfortably.
Additionally, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad is stepping in with free shuttle buses in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. In KL, 30 buses will shuttle visitors every 10 minutes from Pasar Seni, Gombak LRT, and Kampung Batu MRT to Batu Caves.

Meanwhile in Penang, 12 free shuttles will run from the ferry terminal to Adventist, and a 53-hour free ferry service kicks off from 31 Jan to help move crowds.
Other parts of the country won’t be left behind. BAS.MY will operate extra free buses in Johor Bahru, Seremban, Ipoh, Kota Setar, and Sungai Petani, with 169 buses deployed to shuttle visitors to key Thaipusam spots.
