Xpeng Sets Big 2026 Targets Amid New EVs, AI Plans
Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng, backed by Volkswagen, is aiming high for 2026, targeting 550,000 to 600,000 vehicle sales, marking a jump of roughly 28% to 40% compared with the 429,445 cars it delivered in 2025.
The company plans to maintain its rapid growth by rolling out seven new models next year, with at least three heading to overseas markets. Among them are four new SUVs which are the luxury six-seat G01, a full-size flagship G02, and two Mona series models, the D02 midsize SUV and the D03 compact SUV.
The G02, in particular, is expected to compete with Li Auto’s Li L9 and Aito’s M9 in the Chinese EV market.

Xpeng is also enhancing some existing models. Last week, it updated four cars with extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options and introduced tiered paid smart driving upgrades across all four models.
These moves aim to stabilize domestic sales and support the company’s overseas expansion, with the P7+ sedan and Mona SUVs highlighted as key export models.

Speaking of international markets, Xpeng plans to double overseas sales in 2026. In 2025, exports made up about 10% of total sales, with 45,008 vehicles shipped abroad, marking a 96% year-on-year increase.
On the technology front, Xpeng is pushing forward with its in-house Turing AI chip and VLA 2.0 smart driving software, which are central to the company’s physical AI strategy.

This includes developments in robotaxis and humanoid robots, with street trials and limited production planned for 2026. The company has already secured over one million units of production capacity for its AI chips, signaling serious commitment to advanced autonomous and AI-driven mobility.
