First Hybrid Porsche 911 Teased, Debuts This Month

The first hybrid Porsche 911 model is set for debut this month. Ahead of which, it has completed an arduous 5 million-KM testing program.
As noted prior, German sportscar marque Porsche is set to see the first hybrid petrol-electric version of its signature 911 sportscar model enter production soon. In fact, the firm revealed it recently completed a 5 million-KM test program for it ahead of its planned debut later this month on May 28.
The images suggest that the first Porsche 911 hybrid model won’t look radically different from the familiar 992-gen model. However, Porsche has confirmed that underneath, the hybrid system said iconic sportscar adopts is more adept for performance.

Porsche hasn't revealed much details surrounding the new "performance hybrid" setup that the updated 992-gen 911 will pack, but we're certain it will be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup.
“For the first time in our icon’s 61-year history, we are installing a hybrid drive system in a roadgoing 911. This innovative performance hybrid makes the 911 even more dynamic,” promises Frank Moser, vice president for Porsche’s 911 and 718 model lines.
Porsche hasn’t revealed much about the powertrain, but it’s certain to be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The brand adds that the tech allowed the now electrified 911 model to lap the famed Nurburgring in just 7 mins 16.9 secs, making it 8.7 secs faster than a “corresponding version” of the current 911.

Porsche also lapped the infamous Nurburgring with the new and electrified 911 hybrid model where it logged in a new laptime that's 8.7 secs faster than a "corresponding version" of the current 911.
Notably, said timing was achieved with both an optional aerokit package primed, along with standard road tyres. The former is a staple cost-option offered for the 911 model across generations and features a large fixed rear wing added that provides additional downforce.
“We have more grip, significantly more power, and the spontaneous response of the performance hybrid is a great advantage,” adds Jörg Bergmeister, Porsche test driver and brand ambassador, of the latest version of House Stuttgart’s iconic sportscar.
As mentioned earlier, we have not long to wait before we can see it. The first hybrid Porsche 911 debuts online on May 28, and we’ll have more then.
