Launched: 2024 Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic & GLA 35 4Matic – RM343,888 & RM363,888

Launched earlier today were both the locally built (CKD) 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4Matic (left) and 2024 Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic (right).
More news from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM). Just three days after officially launching and pricing the revised and upgraded second-generation (H247) GLA 250 4Matic, the firm has elected to officially announce the availability and prices of three of its updated locally built (CKD) Mercedes-AMG performance models.
Launched by MBM earlier today were the new W206-gen Mercedes-AMG C43 4Matic sports saloon, followed by the revised V177-gen Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic and H247-gen GLA35 4Matic. For this report, we’ll focus on the latter duo based on the three-point star’s compact cars platform.

The V177-gen Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic is priced at RM343,888.
Initially announced last year alongside the revised A200 and A250 4Matic variants, and later previewed during MBM’s ‘Luxury Like No Other’ showcase event, the AMG-badged version of the V177 compact saloon has finally gotten an official price of RM343,888.
According to insiders at MBM, the model’s delayed launch stems from complications related to red tape revolving the model’s homologation. In fact, similar complications were experienced by other rivalling brands with similar localised AWD-equipped products – i.e. the VW Golf R.

Similarly specced H247-gen Mercedes-AMG GLA35 4Matic, on the other hand, commands RM363,888, instead.
As for the H247-gen GLA35 4Matic, its debut was more or less expected following the arrival of the base-spec GLA 200 in Jan this year, and the upgraded GLA250 4Matic variant earlier this week. This performance version of the GLA luxury crossover is tagged at RM363,888 instead.
As seen in their ‘lesser’ siblings, the revised 2024MY Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic and GLA35 4Matic are treated with similarly mild aesthetic tweaks inside and out. New for the exterior are the headlights, bumper, signature Panamericana grille, and new 19-inch (A35) and 20-inch wheels (GLA35).
On board, changes are equally minimal but does see the deletion of the heads-up display (HUD) seen in the pre-facelift version of the A35 4Matic. The dual 10.25-inch digital displays remain, but they’re now powered by an updated MBUX suite featuring AMG-specific displays too.

Both models share the same updated 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo MHEV heart that's now paired with a new 8-speed DCT box. Both also mirror much of the changes seen in their 'lesser' siblings.
The most significant change lies under the hood as both models gain a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill updated with a new 48-volt RSG mild-hybrid (MHEV) system. Output figures read at 306 HP and 400 NM, whilst the latter MHEV system adds a momentary boost of 13 HP and 150 NM.
Drive goes to all four wheels via an AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel-drive (AWD), plus a brand new AMG Speedshift DCT 8G automatic transmission.
Altogether, it enables the grounded and booted A35 4Matic with a century sprint time of 4.8 secs, whilst its lifted GLA35 4Matic twin does the same in 5.2 secs instead. Both also share the same limited V-max of 250 KM/H.

Over on the exterior, key changes can be seen in the headlights, Panamericana grille, bumper, and wheels across both. A shared signature here too are the red-painted AMG brake calipers.
Notable kit present in both include the AMG-specific Dynamic Select drive mode selector, AMG Ride Control adaptive dampers, red-painted AMG brake calipers, Burmester surround audio suites, 64-colour cabin ambient lighting suite, plus a slew of active driving assistance (ADAS) features, amongst many.
As noted, both models rolls off the line from MBM’s plant in Pekan, Pahang. Both also come with the firm’s usual offer of a 4-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage.
