- ECRL Kelantan Expected To Be Completed Six Months Earlier
The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) in Kelantan is expected to be completed six months ahead of schedule in January 2027.
Nik Soh Yaacoub, deputy director of the Kelantan Public Works Department, told Bernama that the project has reached 61.97 percent completion with a total workforce of 1,500. He stated that the project's current status included bridge construction, land reclamation, and piling, as well as the start of construction on the state's first ECRL station.
Nik Soh is confident that the project will be completed six months ahead of schedule due to the progress of the work being done by China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) and Malaysia Rail Link (MRL).
"The seriousness demonstrated by CCCC and MRL, as well as the technological sophistication used in implementing this project, is one of the contributors to the project's rapid implementation," he said.
Furthermore, Nik Soh stated that the technology brought by CCCC not only saves time in completing projects but also saves manpower.
"In terms of the iron fabrication process, new technology is used, which saves time and manpower." Furthermore, it is possible to maintain cleanliness while reducing waste production.
"With the initial expectation that construction of the project will be completed, this facility can also be used indirectly by the community, especially when Kelantan hosts the Malaysian Games (SUKMA) in 2026," he said.
