Puma Successfully Hosts Malaysia’s Most Stylish And Vibrant Car Gathering Yet
The inaugural Puma Car Club SEA event held last weekend featured a display of specially curated sportscars and supercars, both new and old, for guests and attendees to marvel at.
Sportswear giant Puma successfully held its first ever Car Club event in the region last weekend on Friday, 25 Aug at Sentul Depot, Kuala Lumpur, and it perhaps stands to be the swankiest, most stylish, and certainly the most vibrant ‘car meet’ of its kind ever hosted locally.
The inaugural Puma Car Club SEA soiree was organised in conjunction with the launch of the brand’s latest Autumn Winter 2023 Motorsports collection. Said new range of kit were designed in collaboration with the motorsports world’s four biggest names – BMW M, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, Porsche, and Ferrari.
Local Puma Car Club community leaders present included the likes of Remus Chang (Motorsports Playground), Asep Ahmad Iskandar (Art of Speed), Huang Ean Hwa, and Datuk David Gurupatham.
Besides select members of the press (us included!), the invitation-only event was graced by the presence of notable guests that included car-centric social media stars and influencers, as well as various figureheads from the local automotive scene, as well as the leading fashion and lifestyle personalities.
Key amongst them were the Puma Car Club community leaders like Remus Chang, founder of pioneering car wrap firm Motorsports Playground; Asep Ahmad Iskandar, founder and director of the Art of Speed festival; Huang Ean Hwa, advertising industry veteran and famed classic Porsche restorer; as well as barrister and prolific car collector Datuk David Gurupatham.
Puma SEA Motorsport Ambassador Choo Sung-hoon, also known as "Sexyama", arrived in style by pulling up to the venue in a fitting - and mint! - E46-gen BMW M3 Cabriolet.
Choo, who is both a global martial arts champion and reality TV star, interacting with invited guests and attendees during the inaugural Puma Car Club SEA soiree.
The highlight of the evening though was the special appearance of world renowned martial artist and reality TV star Choo Sung-hoon. Better known by his nickname of “Sexyama”, the Puma SEA Motorsport Ambassador not only received a warm welcome from guests and attendees, he also arrived in style by pulling up into the venue in a rather fitting – and mint! – E46-gen BMW M3 Cabriolet.
“This is my first time here. I’ve always wanted to visit and meet Malaysians, and I’m happy to be able to be here today!” expressed the Korean global star to guests and attendees whilst on stage and special meet and greet sessions. Apart from Choo’s appearance, there were other highlights of the event to note too.
Specially curated cars were on display alongside a showcase of the latest Puma Motorsports line featuring tie-ins with Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, and BMW M.
In reflection of the aforementioned latest Autumn Winter 2023 Motorsports collection range that just launched, the Puma Car Club SEA event also housed a display of specially curated sportscars and supercars from all four brands featured in said range. These included icons from both recent times and yesteryear, as well as a handful special custom builds.
Our favourites though were the foursome of icons proudly parked in front of the mainstage that consists of an E30-gen BMW M3, 930-gen Porsche 911 Turbo, a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, and a W201 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth.
Special activities for the evening included Gran Turismo 7 sim-racing rigs, a graffiti yard where participants got to tag a disused car, a special car-scent workshop, plus Tamiya slot-car racing runs.
Beyond the display of exceptional vehicles and matching new sportswear, the event also featured special activities designed to entice car enthusiasts – both casual and serious fanatics. It included Tamiya slot car racing, Gran Turismo 7 sim-racing rigs, a car-scent workshop, as well as a graffiti yard where participants were allowed to tag a disused car with their creative artworks.
Veteran local rock band Pop Shuvit were amongst the local and regional artistes gracing the mainstage at Puma Car Club SEA last weekend.
Singapore Tosh Rock, Hullera, and DJ Ashley Lau were amongst the other acts gracing the mainstage at Puma Car Club SEA.
These aside, the mainstage also saw some of the best local and regional artistes performing hits. Leading the bill here were Singapore’s Tosh Rock, Hullera, veteran rockers Pop Shuvit, as well as DJ Ashley Lau. Suffice to say it, Puma Car Club SEA had an abundance of entertainment as it did with special cars on show.
Specially curated motoring icons on display in front of the main stage included a E30-gen BMW M3 and a 930-gen Porsche 911 Turbo.
Upon reaching the special soiree’s chequered flag, it’s safe to say that attendees and guests of the inaugural Puma Car Club SEA events were transported into the world of racing and high-speed thrills that the brand’s Motorsports sub-brand aspires to emulate. It also lives up to the brand’s everlasting tagline and promise motto at being Forever Faster.
