- Face-Lifted Kia K8 Teases EV9-Inspired Looks Ahead of Debut
Korean automaker Kia has shared the first teasers for the upcoming Kia K8 facelift, with the new executive sedan model set to make its Korean debut later in August this year. The updated model promises to feature some key equipment upgrades on top of its slightly reverted styling.

Kia K8 executive sedan
For those who are not familiar with this sedan model, the K8 is essentially Kia’s executive (E-segment) sedan fighter, positioned above the midsize Kia K5 (also known as the Optima) and below the K9 flagship saloon – a sibling to the Hyundai Grandeur/Azera.

From the short teaser video published, we can see that Kia has elected to dress the facelifted K8 with some EV9-inspired design cues, notably its Y-shaped LED headlights and the slimmer ‘Tiger Nose’ front grille that now features an LED bar. To compensate for the smaller front grille, Kia designers have appeared to enlarge the new K8’s lower intake to maintain its cooling performance.

The same EV9-inspired design treatment can be seen at the rear part of the facelifted K8, with the executive sedan slated to get full-width LED taillights with Y-shaped ends on either side. Given that the short teaser video was intentionally dark, there’s nothing much left that can be derived from it except for the sleek side profile this E-segment sedan harnesses.

Unfortunately, no on-board shots of the facelifted K8 were available. Given that the current, pre-facelift K8 already features a dual 12.3-inch display setup plus a 12-inch head-up display, perhaps we can expect the changes to take place elsewhere in the cabin.

We also don’t have any details regarding the powertrain lineup for the updated K8. But again, given this is just a mere facelift, we can expect Kia to carry over the same lineup from the pre-updated model, which features 2.5-litre and 3.5-litre petrol ICE options on top of both the hybrid (HEV) and LPG versions.
The EV9-fication of the facelifted K8 comes as no surprise to us, since Kia has been actively updating its product lineup to match the aesthetics of its flagship EV SUV. Besides the upcoming K8, the same EV9-fication treatment has also been given to the Sorento, Carnival, and many more.
With that being said, Kia is slated to unveil the all-new Kia K8 sedan facelift later in August this year in its native Korean market, so only by then will we get to know all the details about this sleek executive saloon.
