In order to better identify traffic violations, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) plans to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to strengthen its enforcement to reduce high-risk infractions that lead to traffic accidents and fatalities.

According to JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, AI will greatly improve the effectiveness of law enforcement and lower traffic infractions. In a statement, he said that "this technology enables JPJ to improve enforcement effectiveness and reduce offences."

JPJ enforcement officers will increase patrols and checks at strategic locations, such as highways and accident-prone zones, in addition to deploying AI. Public awareness efforts will also be carried out to inform Malaysians of the need to follow traffic safety laws.

Emphasis will be placed on important safety procedures like utilizing seat belts, staying within speed limits, and upholding appropriate driving behaviour - targeting young and high-risk drivers.

In addition to that, Datuk Aedy emphasized JPJ's cooperation with other government agencies to upgrade road infrastructure around the country. This involves making sure all vehicles, especially public and commercial vehicles, fulfill safety regulations through frequent inspections and rigorous safety checks.

JPJ will also be fortifying alliances with transportation firms and trade groups to impose more stringent regulations to lower the number of heavy vehicle accidents.

Datuk Aedy further said that all road users including drivers, riders and relevant authorities share the responsibility in abiding to traffic laws to reduce accident rates as an effort to build safer roadways for coming generations.
