- Zeekr 7X EV SUV Set to Debut in Malaysia in Q3 2025
Zeekr Malaysia has confirmed that the Zeekr 7X midsize EV SUV will be making its local debut later in Q3 this year.
The Zeekr 7X midsize EV SUV is poised to make its Malaysian debut later in Q3 this year, where it will be the third Zeekr model to be launched into our market. This was confirmed by the new official distributor of the Zeekr brand in Malaysia, Preeminent Auto Sdn Bhd, during the official launch of the first Zeekr Space showroom in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
We’ve previously confirmed the arrival of the 7X into our market this year, but this time around the actual timeframe of the launch has been confirmed. Once the 7X arrives in Malaysia, it’ll bring stiff competition into this burgeoning midsize EV SUV market space, which is currently populated by the likes of Xpeng G6, BYD Sealion 7, Leapmotor C10, and the Tesla Model Y.
Dimension-wise, the 7X is not far off from its aforementioned rivals, measuring 4,825 MM long, 1,930 MM wide, 1,666 MM tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,925 MM. For reference, the Xpeng G6 is 4,753 MM long with a 2,890 MM wheelbase, 1,920 MM wide, and 1,650 MM tall, while the BYD Sealion 7 measures 4,830 MM long, 1,925 MM wide, 1,620 MM tall, and a wheelbase of 2,930 MM.
As of now, Zeekr Malaysia has yet to mention how many variants of the 7X will arrive here, but we do know that the EV SUV is available in two variants. Starting with the baseline RWD model, it uses a single electric motor rated at 416 HP (310 kW) and 440 NM, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 KM/H in 5.8 seconds. Meanwhile, the top-spec AWD model gets a peppier dual-motor AWD setup that delivers a whopping 637 HP (475 kW) and 710 NM, granting it a rapid century sprint finish of only 3.8 seconds.
Battery-wise, the RWD model is equipped with either a smaller 75-kWh LFP ‘Golden Brick’ battery pack that grants it up to 605 KM of CLTC range, as well as a larger 100-kWh CATL-Geely Qilin NMC unit that boosts its maximum range to 780 KM, at least according to the lenient CLTC cycle. The AWD model, on the other hand, only comes with the larger CATL unit that provides a maximum range of 705 KM (CLTC).
Thanks to its PMA2+ platform with an 800-volt architecture, the Zeekr 7X is one of the fastest-charging EVs in the world, with Zeekr claiming a 10-80% charge can be completed in just 10.5 minutes, at least for the variant that uses Geely’s proprietary ‘Golden Brick’ battery. The 100-kWh NMC pack, on the other hand, gets a slightly slower charging performance where a 10-80% charge is completed in 15 minutes instead.
In its native China, the Zeekr 7X is priced from CNY 229,900 (RM140,700 approx.) onwards, thus making it cheaper than the Chinese-spec Tesla Model Y, which retails from CNY 263,500 (RM160,900 approx.). Given that the new Tesla Model Y ‘Juniper’ currently retails from RM195,450 onwards, could the 7X be priced similarly or lower than its Sino-American rival here in Malaysia?
