- PHSAM Opens Online ROI For Audi Q7 CKD
PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) informally confirmed prior of its plans to introduce a locally assembled (CKD) version of the Audi Q7 luxury SUV last month.
Loyal followers of Carz.com.my will remember that earlier last month, local Audi brand importers and distributors PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) informally confirmed plans to introduce a locally assembled (CKD) iteration of the refreshed second-gen Audi Q7 luxury SUV.
Now, the firm has just established a dedicated Registration of Interest (ROI) page on its official website (audi.com.my). In other words, the Audi Q7 CKD is now a step closer to an official launch, though PHSAM remains tight-lipped about dates and timelines for which.
Earlier today, PHSAM updated its website to include a dedicated Registration of Interest (ROI) page for the upcoming Audi Q7 CKD featuring the teaser image above.
Nevertheless, keen prospects can now register their interest for the localised iteration of said Audi luxury SUV offering. As a refresher, Denyu Bostandzhiev, MD of PHSAM, had informally confirmed prior that the Audi Q7 CKD will adopt a mild hybrid (MHEV) heart, three-row seating layout, and feature “highly-equipped” specifications.
The exec also noted that this the Audi Q7 CKD programme marks the first time that the model is produced locally outside of Europe. Morevoer, this also marks the first CKD effort for the brand in the greater ASEAN region in recent times too – Audi briefly had a contract assembly effort established in Malaysia back in the 1990s.
PHSAM promised that the Pekan-built Audi Q7 CKD will pack an MHEV powertrain, rear-wheel-steering (RWD), three-row seating layout, as well as a "highly-equipped" specifications.
As a refresher, the second-gen Audi Q7 was first introduced in 2015 before undergoing its first refresh in 2020. A second face-lift came in 2024, the latter bringing more substantial changes inside and out – new signature matrix LED lighting tech included.
The Pekan-built Audi Q7 is expected to harness Audi’s signature 3.0-litre 6-cyl turbo petrol mill outputting 340 HP and 450 NM. Paired with the marque’s signature quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD) plus rear-wheel-steering (RWS), and 8-speed Tiptronic transmission, it promises 0-100 KM/H dashes in 5.6 secs.
The Audi Q7 CKD is set to become the fourth VW MLB Evo-based model to be localised in Malaysia after the Porsch Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe (top, left), Porsche Cayenene (top, right), and the VW Touareg R-Line CKD (above).
Moreover, it will join both the VW Touareg R-Line CKD - also assembled in Pekan and marketed by PHSAM - and the two Kulim-built Porsche Cayenne models, to become the fourth localised VW MLB Evo-based model in Malaysia.
As for price, the upcoming Audi Q7 CKD is expected to command a figure above its VW-badged twin but lower than its Porsche-badged cousin.
