New ‘Retro’ Kit For iCaur V23 Really Wants You To Forget The Jimny Exists
The iCaur V23 shown recently during MAS 2025. In China, the same model is marketed as the 'iCar V23' instead by parent firm Chery.

With its local Malaysian debut at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) still fresh in our minds, we’re certain you’re up to speed with Chery’s new iCaur sub-brand, which is marketed in its native China under the iCar banner instead.
Leading things here is the iCaur V23 EV SUV and, having sized it up in the flesh at MAS 2025, this squared and electrified off-roader arguably has everything it needs to charm many into its favour. Clearly, parent firm Chery has arguably struck the right chord with this sub-brand's mass appeal.

In China, the iCaur V23 recently gained a new 'Retro Emotion Package'. Evidently, this brings a very rugged stance and aesthetic to the rather compact EV off-roader.
Now, to amplify its ‘character’ even further, the iCaur V23 sees its Chinese domestic market model gain a new ‘Retro Emotion Package’ pictured. Through which comes a retro-styled bodykit, a special green wrap, and a unique front grille and blacked-out front bumper combo.
Adding a rugged touch here are the kit’s exclusive black rocker panels, side steps, 19-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tyres, as well a fitting large spotlight mounted on the hood. However, what really sets this kit apart though is the special military-inspired matte green wrap it wears.

Notable additions in this package include a special 'tactical' matte green wrap, unique front grille and bumper combination, rocker panels, side-step, 19-inch wheels and off-road tyres, and a hood-mounted spotlight.
Sources online indicate this special shade of matte green boasts a special anti-glare treatment that supposedly meets military vehicle concealment standards. Additionally, owners can also easily and quickly remove the front grille and replace it.
Evidently, all these additions of the ‘Retro Emotion Package’ detailed arguably complements the base design of the iCaur V23, which already boasts a distinct squared-off profile, upright front and rear ends, and pronounced fender flares.

You could arguably almost forget about the Suzuki Jimny with this electrified Chinese rival.
For now, this ‘Retro Emotion Package’ remains limited to the Chinese market version only. However, should this be offered overseas, we’re certain it could give things like the Suzuki Jimny something to sweat about, wouldn’t you agree?
Set for launch in Malaysia soon, the iCaur V23 should see two powertrain choices – base single-motor, 2WD and higher-end dual-motor, AWD guises – available, as well as two battery capacities – 65.7 kWh and 69.8 kWh – offering up to 426 KM and 418 KM of NEDC range respectively.

Despite the government’s on-going fully imported (CBU) EV tax incentives ending end of this year, word has it that Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia seeks to launch the iCaur V23 locally next year. If so, perhaps it wouldn’t surprise us if the firm elects to localise it (CKD) soon, but don't take our word on that just yet...
You can get to know the iCaur V23, as well as the iCaur 03 showcased alongside it, from our initial preview report of both from MAS 2025 by clicking these blue words…
