Between 2022 and April this year, tipper lorries were the most-seized goods vehicles by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

JPJ senior enforcement director Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan says that 602 tipper trucks were confiscated between 2022 and April this year, for a total of 3,061 lorries seized during that time.

The department confiscated 102 tipper trucks in 2022 alone, 252 in 2023, and 189 in 2024.

"Between Jan and April this year, from 365 lorries seized, 59 of them were tipper lorries," he says in a The Star report. Muhammad-Kifli-Ma-Hassan.---2025-05-23T112210.153.png

He further noted that tipper lorries are also among the vehicles involved in the most road offences. Among the offences were overloading, expired road tax and failure to receive regular inspections

"We do not want the offences to endanger other road users," he added.

The department takes this issue seriously and has instructed all enforcement division heads to intensify lorry operations within their respective states.

These operations, according to Muhammad Kifli, will specifically target trucks with technical violations, lack of insurance, and expired road tax.
