UMWT Thrills East Malaysia Hilux Owners In Special Campaign

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recently concluded its 'Hilux Unleashed - The Ultimate Challenge' campaign held across East Malaysia that was focused on both its Hilux model and its owners community there.


UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recently concluded its ‘Hilux Unleased – The Ultimate Challenge’ in East Malaysia. Held in both Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and Kuching, Sarawak, the campaign aptly centres on the firm’s signature Hilux pick-up truck offering.

Key to this campaign were its mix of off-road adventures, lifestyle engagement, and community spirit. Some of the activities included a crowd-favourite Gymkhana Taxi Ride, 3D Panoramic View Monitor Blind Challenge, as well as precision driving demos.

Besides the Treasure Hunt Challenge main event, part of this campaign include special activities like a Gymkhana taxi ride, precision driving demos, complimentary vehicle inspections, and more.


Besides that, visitors were also treated with the sale of exclusive Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) merchandise, test-drive sessions, as well as complimentary vehicle inspections. Of course, the main event of this campaign was its Treasure Hunt Challenge.

The hunt was first held in Kota Kinabalu on May 10 and 11, attracting a total of 125 participants across 42 vehicles. Participants also traversed and navigated through scenic yet challenging routes spanning form the Anjung waterfront to Kokol Hill and Tuaran.

The challenge concluded at the Nexus Resort & Spa in Karambunai where a special prize-giving ceremony. Here, UMWT rewarded the Top 10 finishers with RM26,500 worth of prizes. The winning team here was Team #32 led by Dolumin Dommin, and they were awarded with prizes worth up to RM10,000.

Over in Kuching, the Treasure Hunt Challenge also saw 138 participants entering it across 45 vehicles.


The same challenge was held just a week later in Kuching on May 17 and 18, this time with 138 participants across 45 vehicles. Similarly, participants made their way through an engaging mix of cultural and urban landmarks across the Sarawak state capital.

This leg of the challenge then concluded at the scenic Damai Lagoon Resort where the top 10 teams were again rewarded by UMWT with up to RM26,500 in prizes. Taking first place here was Team #20 led by Lee Min Qi, and they also took home the lion share of prizes worth up to RM10,000.

“Hilux Unleashed is more than just a celebration of performance, it’s a celebration of people. Events like these allow us to connect with our customers on a deeper level, beyond the vehicles we build,” remarked UMWT President Datuk Ravindran K.

The exec then emphasised that UMWT builds customer loyalty not just through its products, but also through its efforts in fostering the community for which.

UMWT also adds many long-time Hilux owners expressed enthusiasm for more events of this nature, and most are eager to participate in future activities.
