Azizulhasni Awang Becomes First Ever Volkswagen Malaysia Brand Ambassador
Datuk Azizulhasni Awang took the mantle as the first ever brand ambassador for Volkswagen Malaysia.

Earlier today, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) announced a groundbreaking partnership with Malaysian cycling hero Datuk Azizulhasni Awang. Through a special collaboration, he was named first ever brand ambassador for Volkswagen Malaysia.
“Azizul’s story is one of extraordinary ambition, agility and drive. Much like our cars, he represents performance that is purposeful and enduring,” expressed Renate Noessler, MD of VPCM.
Renate was appointed the position of MD at VPCM recently where she succeeds Denyu Bostandzhiev. She also stands as the first lady to lead VPCM. “He is not just a champion on the track — he’s a role model off it,” emphasised the exec further.

With this collaboration, the 37-year-old Terengganu native, known worldwide as ‘The Pocket Rocketman’, will be featured in upcoming campaigns, events and digital content produced by the Volkswagen brand.
“This partnership isn’t just about cars or cycling — it’s about inspiring Malaysians to go further, faster and never settle,” said Datuk Azizulhasni Awang earlier today in a special press session held at the PHS Autohaus Volkswagen Puchong outlet.
“I’ve always believed that success is built on consistency, detail and the courage to take on challenges — values that align perfectly with Volkswagen,” continued the Malaysian Olympian, who famously won the bronze and silver medals in the Olympics’ keirin cycling contest.

“This partnership goes beyond traditional brand endorsements. It reflects a deep connection with Malaysians who value performance, integrity, and long-term confidence in what they drive,” adds Renate further.
Perhaps the national cycling hero’s partnership with the renowned German automaking powerhouse is a timely one. Earlier this year, the two-time Olympic medallist made the shock announcement to postpone his retirement and mount a comeback.
