- Nanta: MYJalan Will Become National Road Database
The MYJalan app, once mainly used for lodging complaints about damaged roads, is set to evolve into a full-fledged national database for managing road infrastructure across Malaysia.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the upgrade addresses one of the biggest hurdles in road management, the absence of standardised and comprehensive data.
With proper data in place, he explained, road maintenance can be planned more effectively and carried out more accurately, ensuring safer and smoother journeys for all users regardless of which agency manages the road.
The announcement was made after the MYJalan 2025 Programme Road Data Seminar and Engagement Session, which brought together ministries, state agencies, local councils, land offices and highway concessionaires to push forward reforms in road data management.
Nanta said state governments and local authorities have thus far responded positively, and further discussions will be held before the plan is taken to the Cabinet at the end of 2025.
Launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Aug 2024, MYJalan has become a key government initiative to improve road safety and management. As of July 31, the programme has logged 40,938 complaints, with about 30.4% involving Federal roads and the remainder concerning state administrated or other roads.
