VPCM have launched the 2025 VW Golf GTI Sepang Edition hot hatch, and this special is offered exclusively in Malaysia only.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) officially launched a new special and limited-run edition of the much lauded and loved Volkswagen Golf GTI hot hatch today. We’ll also add that this new special is offered exclusively in Malaysia only.

Called the 2025 VW Golf GTI Sepang Edition, this special aptly pays homage to the famed PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (SIC). In turn, it also becomes the first car in Malaysia to officially carry the SIC insignia, as well as Volkswagen Malaysia’s first collaboration on a special edition model.

VPCM did not disclose how many units will be built. All signs however point towards a single model year release, so keen prospects ought to hurry in bookings theirs.

“The Golf GTI Sepang Edition symbolises the Malaysian motorsport pride in a way that Malaysians can connect with,” said Azhan Shafriman Hanif, CEO of SIC via a joint press release issued earlier today announcing the special and limited-run hot hatch model.

“With this Special Edition, we celebrate Malaysia’s rich motorsport heritage and offer enthusiasts the opportunity to own a piece of Malaysia’s motorsport energy; a car named from the track and made for the road,” added Renate Noessler, MD of VPCM.

Surprisingly, neither VPCM or Volkswagen Malaysia stated in their joint press release with the circuit just how may units will be made. All signs point towards this being a single model year special release at least. In other words, keen collectors and avid fans ought to hurry in booking theirs now.

Exclusive to the Sepang Edition are its B-pillar and tailgate badges, racing stripes on its doors, plus the 18-inch Richmond alloy wheels dressed in Gunmetal Grey Matte paint.

We’ll dive straight into price and VPCM has tagged the Sepang Edition special at RM262,990, making it RM10,000 pricier than the regular GTI (RM252,990). Notably, included in said price is the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP) that brings a 7-year free maintenance plan, as well as a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty and roadside assistance.

Mechanically, the 2025 VW Golf GTI Sepang Edition is unchanged from the base Golf GTI model. It continues to pack the hot hatch's signature 2.0-litre TSI 4-cyl turbo petrol mill and slick 7-speed DSG automatic box pairing. This setup is rated at 242 hp and 370 Nm, which in turn sees 0-100 km/h dashes done in just 6.3 secs.

This special also wears exclusive black-painted front splitter, roof, side mirror caps, and rear diffuser.

Arguably, the RM10,000 premium is reflected through this special’s exclusive aesthetics starting with its Atlantic Blue (pictured) and Kings Red exterior paint options. Next comes the ‘Sepang Edition’ B-pillar and tailgate emblems (badges), as well as racing stripes running across the doors on both side.

Unique too are the signature Richmond 18-inch wheels finished in Gunmetal Grey Matte and primed with dynamic (self-righting) “GTI” centre caps and tyre valve caps. Also exclusively finished in black here are the roof, front splitter, rear diffuser and side skirts, all aimed at enhancing this hot hatch’s stance.

Other additions include the VW UTR 2.2 enhanced dashcam set (left) and GTI-branded floor mats (right).

Each unit is tagged at RM262,990 with VAP included, the latter bringing a 7-year free maintenance package too.

Other additions include the VW UTR 2.0 (Universal Traffic Recorder) enhanced front and rear dashcam set, original VW Tint set, as well as a special key holder with certificate of authenticity for owners. Otherwise, everything else remains largely unchanged from the regular GTI model all around.

Lastly, VPCM has also elected to feature the 2025 VW Golf GTI Sepang Edition detailed in its first ever 10.10 sales promotion. Through which, the firm will offer customers registering the first 10 units anytime from Oct 9 to Oct 16 with a reward of 0% loan interest for up to 10 months.
