A Business Owner’s Desire To Own A Luxury Car Ended in a Facebook Scam
A business owner lost his temper when he lost RM22,166 due to being deceived in the purchase of a luxury car that did not exist, during February 9.

Pahang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief, Superintendent Mohd Wazir Mohd Yusof confirmed that his department had received a police report regarding the incident.
"Based on the police report, the victim claimed that he was interested in buying a Toyota Alphard car which was sold in a vehicle loan advertisement on Facebook. The victim contacted the car sales agent and after discussion, he agreed to make a monthly payment of RM431.30 for five years. The victim then deposited RM22,166 into the suspect's bank account through four online transactions, " he said.
However, the victim began to realize that he had been deceived by the agent because the vehicle had not been received while the suspect was still asking for money from him.
Following that, the victim lodged a police report for fear of his personal information being misused.
In regards, Mohd Wazir advised the public not to make any payment without checking further details on car sales agents on Facebook.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for deception.
