Updated Lamborghini Urus S debuts with more power and styling tweaks

Italian sportscar marque Lamborghini has given its best-seller, by which we mean the Urus super-SUV, a light update. In this newly unveiled Lamborghini Urus S form, it slots below the manic Urus Performante revealed last month, and it packs a swathe of updates all around.

The biggest change of course lies under the hood. According to Lamborghini, the engine in the Urus S has been calibrated the same as the sportier Performante's, but with “optimum responsiveness and performance”.

What this entails to is the same uprated 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as found in the Performante, delivering same devilish outputs of 666 PS (657 HP) and 850 NM, thus allowing it to dispatch 0-100 KMH in just 3.5 secs before maxing out at 305 KMH.

Like the previous base Urus, adaptive air suspension is included as standard in this updated Urus S version, and it also still offers a range of selectable drive modes. The latter includes Strada, Sport, Corsa, user-customisable Ego mode, as well as three off-road drive modes.

Changes to the exterior can be seen in the redesigned front and rear bumpers plus a new black stainless steel skid plate that matches the black front grille. The bonnet, on the other hand, is painted carbon fibre, whilst the air vents and exhaust system are also finished matte black.

On board, Lamborghini has given the Urus S's cabin trim a new stitching pattern on top of a new leather colour choices too. In fact, drivers can now opt from Bi-colour Sportivo or Bi-colour Sophisticated, as well as a wider selection of leather styles and colours.

“The Urus has proven its appeal for those seeking the decisive combination of the sportiest SUV and a Lamborghini to drive every day: the Urus S sits perfectly alongside the new Urus Performante, for those choosing the purest sublimation of performance, luxury and versatility,” said Stephan Winklemann, Lamborghini’s chairman and CEO.

As reported prior, Lamborghini delivered 5,021 units of its Urus SUV in 2021 alone, with said model accounting for more than half of the 8,405 total vehicles it sold throughout 2021. With a refreshed two-variant range now, expect sales of the Urus model to continue climbing and further bolster the Lamborghini brand's business.
