Heads up Gran Turismo 7 players, developers of the Playstation-exclusive title Polyphony Digital have rolled out Update 1.23 starting from Sept 29, 2022 onwards. As per its recent slew of updates, this latest one brings forth a number of minor enhancements, plus several new additions including three new cars.

We’ll start with the cars, and Update 1.23 introduces the 2019 Volkswagen ID.R electric racer, the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Spyder concept EV, as well as the 1994 Nissan Silvia K’s Type S.

Renowned for real world exploits such as its record-setting runs across the Nurburgring and up the Pikes Peak hillclimb, the 2019 Volkswagen ID.R all-electric prototype racer enters the Gran Turismo 7 virtual space to give players a virtual feel of its incredible speed.

Powering the purpose-built prototype racer is an electric powertrain that delivers 670 hp and 650 NM. Weighing in at 1,100 KG, the ID.R is able to sprint from standstill to 100 KMH in a scarcely believable 2.25 seconds too.

Next to that comes another new and all-electric addition to the game, albeit a fictional one. Effectively, the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Spyder concept is a follow up from the previous Porsche Vision GT concept unveiled last year, now reduxed as an open-top roadster instead – hence the ‘Spyder’ nameplate.

Although no official specifications and performance data were revealed for the Spyder, the coupe it’s based upon made 1,274 HP (virtually, that is…) from an all-electric powertrain. Expect the Spyder to deliver more or less the same.

The third new car added in this latest update comes in the form of a fan-favourite JDM – the 1994 Nissan Silvia K’s Type S. Better known amongst its fans as the S14 or the 240SX in markets like North America, this 1994 Type S model came brimmed with the rare rear-wheel steering option dubbed "Super HICAS." Being the K trim means it gets 16-inch wheels too.

Of course, what will get fans excited is the fact that this iteration of Nissan’s famed S-chassis and Silvia model lineage came powered by Nissan’s famed SR20 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo mill. In stock form, it develops 216 HP and powers the rear wheels. Whilst the other two cars detailed above will be available through their respective Brand Central sections, this modern retro Nissan will instead be available through the Legend Cars pavilion.

New cars aside, Update 1.23 also sees Gran Turismo 7 gaining one new Menu Book plus two Extra Menu Books in its Café section. This adds new themed challenges for players surrounding “the Silvia Sisters,” Corvettes, and mid-engine Porsches. New too are a selection of race events added in the World Circuits mode, not forgetting two new locations - California II and Tokyo II – in the Scapes mode.

Lastly, Update 1.23 brings a number of usual bug fixes, as well as adding support for the newly launched Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel.
